Fuel OKC has been awarded $1 million through Bedrock, a new fund launched by Inasmuch Foundation to support transformational initiatives across Oklahoma.

Inasmuch Foundation is proud to introduce Bedrock, an invitation-only fund dedicated to supporting transformation across Oklahoma. Bedrock is focused on high-impact investments in children and youth, education, community health, and animal welfare.

Interested in serving on a charter school board and making an impact on public education in Oklahoma City?

Fuel OKC is partnering with nationally recognized governance experts atBellwether to host a Charter School Governance Academy on Thursday, October 8, from 8:00–11:30 a.m. at the Oklahoma Center for Nonprofits.

The training is open to current charter school board members and school leaders as well as business, civic, and community leaders interested in potentially serving on a charter school board.

No prior experience in education is required. Strong charter school boards need people with a wide range of professional backgrounds and perspectives—including business, finance, law, HR, communications, real estate, nonprofit leadership, community engagement, and more.

Participants will learn about:
• Effective charter school governance in Oklahoma
• The Oklahoma and Oklahoma City public education landscapes
• The roles and responsibilities of charter school board members
• Practical tools and resources for effective board service
• Opportunities to connect with current school leaders and board members

🏆 #1 Dove Science Academy High School OKC
🏆 #2 Classen High School of Advanced Studies
🏆 #4 Harding Charter Preparatory High School
🏆 #5 Santa Fe South Pathways Middle College

The U.S. News rankings evaluate nearly 18,000 public high schools nationwide based on six factors, including student performance on state assessments and how well schools prepare students for college.

Another exciting addition to Oklahoma City’s education landscape!

Putnam City’s first public charter school, Puentes y Puertas, will offer a two-way English-Spanish dual-language immersion model beginning in fall 2027. The tuition-free school will help students become bilingual, biliterate and academically prepared while bringing together English- and Spanish-speaking learners in the same classroom.

Expanding high-quality public school options means more families can find the learning environment that’s right for their child. We’re excited to see another innovative choice coming to our community.

At its May 4, 2026, meeting, the Putnam City School Board approved a contract for Puentes y Puertas, a dual language charter school.

New national recognition for Oklahoma charter schools! 🎉

A recent article from The 74 highlights that Oklahoma charter schools continue to outperform neighboring traditional public schools on student achievement measures, despite serving higher percentages of economically disadvantaged students and receiving less funding.

This recognition reflects the dedication of school leaders, educators, staff and families who are working every day to expand access to high-quality educational opportunities for Oklahoma students. We are proud to celebrate the impact charter schools are making across our state!

Aldeman: 31 of 49 brick-and-mortar charter schools outperformed their neighboring traditional schools last year — one by 59 points.

A major step forward for Oklahoma charter schools.

House Bill 3372, recently signed into law by Governor Kevin Stitt, creates new financing tools to help charter schools address facility challenges and plan for future growth.

The new law establishes a revolving loan fund and includes a moral obligation provision that could help schools access lower interest rates and more affordable financing options.

Strong schools need strong facilities, and this legislation provides charter schools with another important tool to better serve Oklahoma students and families!
