The AANHPI Lactation Collaborative seeks to compile and create a resource directory to share publicly on our website. Your answers will also help inform future projects focused on increasing access to lactation support and resources for AANHPI birthing people.

As World Breastfeeding Week comes to a close, we reflect on the Office of the Surgeon General’s long history of supporting breastfeeding.

In 1984, the Surgeon General convened a national workshop on breastfeeding and human lactation. In 2011, the Office issued The Surgeon General’s Call to Action to Support Breastfeeding, calling on health care systems, employers, communities, families, and policymakers to help remove the barriers mothers face.

The commitment to breastfeeding remains strong, we will continue to help more mothers breastfeed for as long as they intend and help give more babies the healthiest possible start in life.
