We had a blast shopping for these special treasures in Michoacán, Mexico! 🇲🇽✨ Take a peek at some of the beautiful handcrafted finds we brought back, along with incredible Central Oklahoma experiences and goodies, including an Oklahoma City Zoo and Botanical Garden wildlife encounter, WildCareOklahoma adventures, an Anthem Brewing tour, Johnston Seed Company Okies for Monarchs native seed mix, Smart Pots, a bat house by Mike Reynolds, and a nail kit from Lilly's Nail Garden!

🦋 Creating a Pollinator Legacy: For seven years, Oklahoma Monarch Society Board Chair Dr. Patrick Bell has transformed 130 acres of family land in Johnston County into thriving pollinator habitat. 🌼

Dr. Bell says, “It was a labor of love for 7 years. It took years of experimentation and research before I made lasting progress. The project wouldn’t have been possible without everyone’s help.”

🦋 60+ Partners. One shared vision. A stronger future for monarchs. The Oklahoma Monarch Society is proud to announce version 2.0 of the Oklahoma Monarch Conservation Action Plan—a renewed five-year roadmap for monarch and pollinator conservation across Oklahoma.

Developed through the Oklahoma Monarch and Pollinator Collaborative, this plan brings together 60+ partners from state and federal agencies, tribal nations, municipalities, utilities, universities, researchers, nonprofits, private landowners, and more.

Together, we’re working to:
🌱 Strengthen monarch and pollinator habitat
🔬 Expand research and monitoring
🌻 Improve conservation practices
📣 Grow public awareness and engagement
🤝 Build lasting partnerships across Oklahoma

🍂 Fall is a great time to add native plants to your gardens.
🦋 Include early, mid, and late-season blooms.
🌱 Don’t forget milkweeds, essential host plants for monarch caterpillars.

🎨 August 7 – TONIGHT! - First Friday Art Walk in the Paseo Arts District – Watch artist Rick Sinnett create butterfly-themed screen prints and stop by the Okies for Monarchs booth to learn about monarch and pollinator conservation.

🌼 August 11 – Supporting Native Pollinators at Metropolitan Library System Warr Acres Library. Learn how native plants and pollinators work together and discover simple ways to support them at home.

🦋 August 12 – OKC Beautiful's Sustainability Social Hour Anthem Brewing in OKC. Hear from Oklahoma Monarch Society's Katie Hawk and John Blue while connecting with others who care about conservation and sustainability.

💪 The action plan is made possible through the collaboration of 60+ Oklahoma Monarch & Pollinator Collaborative partner organizations working together to conserve monarchs and other pollinators across our state. At the celebration, you'll have the opportunity to meet some of our conservation partners, connect with experts and learn how you can make a difference right where you live.
