Since 2013, Cut It Forward has been on a mission to ensure that children of color in Oklahoma’s foster and adoptive care are seen, heard, and celebrated as they naturally are through culturally-specific hair and skin care resources, programs, and support. Along with many partners and supporters, we’ve proudly served thousands of children and supported their caregivers, advocating for care that honors identity, culture, and the lived experience.

We’re now entering a new chapter, one with even greater impact, and we can’t wait to share this journey with you. Stay tuned — something big is coming soon! 🎉🧡

🌟 A Huge Thank You to Stephen and Gabrielle Butler, LLC and Bailey Gordon Consulting🌟

Cut it Forward is incredibly grateful to have been included in the NEOKC Nonprofit Incubator, led by the amazing Gabrielle Butler and Stephen Butler. Over the 13 weeks, their guidance and support were invaluable, and it was through this cohort that we connected with Bailey Gordon Consulting.

This past Friday and Saturday, we had the privilege of participating in a grant writing collaborative with Bailey Gordon. It was an enlightening and productive experience that will undoubtedly help us in our mission.

We also want to give a shoutout to our fellow incubator participants:

Are you a parent or guardian with a student that attends school and/or lives in the 73111 zip code?

Check out this super cool opportunity!

Kidvation Global will be providing a unique opportunity to some of Northeast Oklahoma City’s youngest community members—to learn about the power of innovation, entrepreneurship, and leadership.

Camp Innovate is a Youth Entrepreneurship Camp for students that have a desire to learn about entrepreneurship and that are aspiring to create their own kid businesses. This interactive camp will give students the chance to learn about some of the different components of entrepreneurship such as: ideation, budgeting, marketing, and product development. During the camp session youth will develop product prototypes, do a pitch presentation, participate in a youth business fair, and potentially have a chance to receive financial seed investments to help kickstart their business concepts!

For more information or to enroll, please email us at [email protected].

Camp Innovate will be sponsored by & collaborate with the OU Price College of Business. Kidvation curriculum is also endorsed by OU's Ronnie K. Irani Center for the Creation of Economic Wealth (OU I-CCEW).

We had the pleasure of attending the OK Justice Circle Breaking Bread luncheon and represent at a vendor table and listen to and learn from some beautiful humans doing extraordinary work! We made some good connections and truly look forward to continuing some relationship building with them beyond today.

We extend our heartfelt appreciation to the Arnall Family Foundation for their invaluable grant award. 🌟 Their support plays a pivotal role in our mission, enhancing our ability to deliver dedicated support for our programs. Thanks to their generosity, we are set to significantly expand our reach and extend our services to a larger number of children of color in foster and adoptive care.

This grant supports our operations at a crucial time, helping us meet the growing demands of the community we serve. With growing interest in our education and products programs, and a rise in requests for our professional services, it's clear that the need for our work is more pressing than ever. We want to thank Sarkeys Foundation for supporting the work we are doing here at Cut it Forward!

We were recently awarded a generous grant that will play a crucial role in expanding the reach and impact of our Crowning Curls Workshops. This support from the Sarkeys Foundation enables us to continue providing essential resources to children of color in congregate care settings, addressing their unique hair and skin care needs. We are deeply grateful to everyone at the Sarkeys Foundation for their partnership in our mission, enhancing our ability to make a lasting difference in the lives of more children and caregivers.

✨📚 Spotlight on Empowerment & Representation 📚✨

At Cut it Forward, we're dedicated to uplifting the voices and stories that affirm the beauty, strength, and potential of children of color. Today, we're excited to highlight an incredible resource that aligns perfectly with our mission—a heartwarming video curated by the Black Woman-owned bookstore in Farmers Branch, TX, Blacklit.

This video illuminates a powerful collection of books tailored for black middle school boys, spotlighting narratives that celebrate their resilience, intelligence, and inherent worth. Through these stories, young readers are offered a window into worlds where they stand as protagonists, navigating adventures and challenges with courage and wisdom. It's a vital testament to the significance of representation and the impactful role it plays in shaping a positive self-image.

The team at Blacklit believes, as do we, that "literacy matters and representation matters, too." Their dedication to promoting Black voices and stories is inspiring.

We encourage our community to support this amazing bookstore. Follow on social media and explore their collection at https://iamblacklit.com. It is crucial that every child has access to stories where they see themselves as the heroes.

Help us spread the word about these beautiful stories and the incredible work being done by Blacklit. By supporting spaces that celebrate and prioritize diversity, we're not just buying books; we're investing in a future where every child knows they are loved, valued, and empowered to reach their full potential.

💖 Your support makes a world of difference. 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
