Biblically, meditation is to think deeply about, remember, ruminate on, reflect upon, prayerfully consider and mentally churn over. Rather than the absence of thought, it is the intentional and consistent rehearsal of scripture in our thoughts.

A fruitful way to mediate on scripture is to consider how the text points to Jesus. Rather than treating the text as an isolated story, lesson, or narrative, think about how it fits into the larger story of redemption that is centered on Jesus Christ.

"And beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, he interpreted to them in all the Scriptures the things concerning himself."
Luke 24:27

How is your understanding broadened by considering how the Scripture you're reading points ultimately to Jesus?

Did you know June is Men’s Mental Health Awareness Month? Typically encouraged to "man up," many men bear the weight of their struggles in silence and isolation. But, carrying the weight all alone is not strength; in the same way asking for help is not weakness.

What man in your life needs a reminder that they don't have to suffer in silence and bear their burdens alone?

Reach out.
Check in.
Send a text message.
Make a call.
Ask how things really are.
Being present means much and makes a huge difference.

If you are a man bearing the weight of a heavy load, know that your struggle doesn't make you weak. Asking for help doesn't make you a burden. And, you are not alone.

If you'd like to speak with a biblical counselor, we have someone who will sit with you, help bear your burdens, encourage you in truth, and remind of you of hope.

Biblically, meditation is to think deeply about, remember, ruminate on, reflect upon, prayerfully consider and mentally churn over. Rather than the absence of thought, it is the intentional and consistent rehearsal of scripture in our thoughts.

A fruitful way to mediate on scripture is to emphasize different words in a verse. Read a verse repetitively and put the emphasis on a different word each time. This helps us to think deeply and digest slowly what may be missed by a faster reading.

Have you read scripture emphasizing different words? How has this help you carry the meaning of a verse with you throughout the day?

One of the things discussed in the counseling room is the challenge of taking care of parents when extra help is needed. Usually this happens while raising your own family, holding down a job and being attentive to your spouse.

Challenges are felt and maybe you relate...

🩶 Loneliness;
🩶 Confusion about calling hospice;
🩶 Overwhelm at all the decisions to be made;
🩶 Challenged by finding just the right care;
🩶 Dividing time with all that is going on in life;
🩶 Frustration with feeling unsure where to turn;
🩶 Heartbreak at watching them age;
🩶 Stressed at trying to balance it all.

At Temple Care, we offer a safe place to meet, talk and pray for you. Some encouragement for the meantime is found in Isaiah 40:29, "He gives strength to those who are exhausted and increases the power of those who have no might."

Biblically, meditation is to think deeply about, remember, ruminate on, reflect upon, prayerfully consider and mentally churn over. Rather than the absence of thought, it is the intentional and consistent rehearsal of scripture in our thoughts.

A fruitful way to mediate on scripture is to write it in your own words. Whatever you're reading that day, paraphrase it in your own language.

How would you convey that idea in your vocabulary? Have you meditated on scripture by writing it in your own words? How has paraphrasing the text help you understand and consider it throughout the day?
