The rain can’t stop heroes! Our 18th annual Hero luncheon celebrated 4 local heroes; Pam Riley Miklavcic was presented with the humanitarian award for the Davies Project; Katie Love received the essential health & safety award for her work with Meridian Cares; the community impact award recipient was Matt Gillett from Saddleback BBQ, and the environmental impact award was awarded posthumously to Leroy Harvey. Thank you SO much to our premier sponsor Matt Sloan and the team at Graff Chevrolet of Okemos and our partner sponsor Aaron Warner and the team at Morrie’s Okemos Ford - we are so grateful for your support. Thank you to BRD Printing and to Meridian Township for use of Marketplace on the Green. To our heroes and everyone who came out despite the weather to support our Rotary Club we are overwhelmed with gratitude. What a fantastic meeting today! We welcomed new member Tim Ekola and had a great presentation from District 6360 Governor Tim Lee. If you’re looking for a service organization to join, look no further! We love to meet new friends and have fun at Haslett-Okemos Rotary!

We’re excited to partner with the Haslett-Okemos Kiwanis Club for a service project coming up on September 19th at the Meridian Historical Village! The event is from 9 am to 1 pm (lunch included); tasks include re-construction of a split rail fence; sweeping, dusting, and window washing; small building repairs, small landscaping projects, grounds cleanup & maintenance; small painting projects; barn cleanup and tool sorting. Gloves, tools, and supplies provided for each volunteer- to sign up call 517-347-7300. We look forward to seeing you on September 19th!
