Hi family! Hard to believe it’s been a month already! It’s been one of the most challenging first months that we have had. But nothing good comes easy! After working very hard to get all the furnishings we need and appliances picked and installed for the house to be ready; we discovered a multitude of issues that delayed our hopes of moving in right away. Different issues ranging from faulty plumbing, having to remove some tiles and basically having to redu a good portion of the plumbing inside. Just when we thought we would be able to spend the night and had moved all our belongings in, a big storm came and knocked out the power and also caused irreversible damage to the electric.
And not really helping the situation at all our family went through a nasty flu like sickness. Some of the symptoms were severe stomach pain, vomiting and high fevers. Stomach pain so much that we took our Youngest Juni to an emergency clinic (that is 5 hours from our house). Thank God for the wisdom of doctors that ran a multitude of tests and found it was a stomach infection that was treatable with antibiotics. Also unfortunately our ministry vehicle did not have the best care and upkeep while we were away. So we have had to invest quite a bit of effort to once again make it safe and functional.
Then the big day came where we were finally able to sleep in our new home. Only to lose power once again from another not so distant storm. Although the circumstances (cold bucket showers, no ac, etc 🤣) weren’t what we hoped they would be , we know this is what we signed up for, good times and bad times. Let’s be clear, we know the enemy does not want to see lives touched, changed and saved by the power of Jesus’s love. But God is faithful to complete the good work He started.
We have had some pretty cool progress -
*Finished the perimeter wall and working on finishing the gate. This is important for security for the land, the house and the continuing phases of building.
*Also we were able to apply and receive our non citizen Ghana cards which is vital for major commerce in Ghana.
*Have nearly furnished the Guest House.
*Reconnected with the local chiefs and elders.
*Connected with our Missions group here in Ghana (comprised of Missionaries from all over the world). There was some great fellowship, encouragement, new connections and invaluable life skills such as how to butcher your own pig!
*Welcomed an addition to the family with a so promised puppy for our kids who do sacrifice and are dedicated to this mission. Now the battle begins to keep him off the menu.🤪
What an incredible blessing it was to have my mom( Grammy) here with us this past month. She was such a huge blessing during the transition into our new home. We just sent her off a couple days ago for home and she is already so missed!
So thankful for all of you, our network of friends and family, as well as all the prayers and financial support!
Look out for more updates and newsletters as our strength and energy return. Would you please pray and consider partnering with us financially as we dig in with the hopes of begining phase 2 of the project “the dormitories”.
