Every summer, selected playwrights gather in Ojai, California to collaborate with actors, directors and dramaturgs to refine their dramatic visions and present public readings of their new plays for audience feedback during the OPC New Works Festival.

Unfortunately, Victoria Pedretti is no longer able to join us for burn for You — BUT we are beyond thrilled to announce that Jessica Barden will be stepping into the cast instead, joining Patrick J. Adams, Kanoa Goo, Jacqueline Toboni and Sasheer Zamata for this very special evening.

Honestly? What a swap!

Join us at Huron Station Playhouse on May 20 for a special fundraising evening celebrating the launch of a new partnership between OPC and Huron Station Playhouse. ✨

We’re thrilled to announce that Victoria Pedretti and Sasheer Zamata have officially joined the staged reading cast of burn for You, the powerful new play by Regan Moro, alongside previously announced cast members Patrick J. Adams and Kanoa Goo.

The evening begins at 6 PM with a pre-show reception featuring bites, beverages, and a chance to connect with the artists before the reading begins at 7:30 PM.

Join the team behind an exciting season of new plays and artistic collaboration. We’re currently hiring for five seasonal positions:

✨ Management Assistant
Support the Managing Director with administrative prep, artist communications, contracts, and front-of-house operations.
✨ Deck Supervisor
Be the onstage technical lead during load-in, rehearsals, readings, and strike.
✨ Technical Assistant
Assist the Technical Director with all aspects of production—from load-in to performances.
✨ Operations Assistant
Help run festival logistics, including event setup, meals, concessions, and front-of-house support.
✨ Company Management Assistant
Coordinate travel, housing, and hospitality for artists and staff, including airport pickups and local transportation.

Our Youth programming is in full swing at Ojai Playwrights Conference 🎭

🌮 Curious about the Youth Workshop Intensive program before applying? Join us for Taco Tuesday Write Nights! These monthly, pay-what-you-can sessions are a fun “taste-test” of the intensive—plus tacos and guest artists. 📅 Next up: April 21

We’re thrilled to welcome multimedia artist Ashley Sengstaken (OPCYW alum + Vimeo Staff Pick for her animated short Girls Night) for a shadow puppet workshop.

🎭✨ OJAI PLAYWRIGHTS CONFERENCE YOUTH WORKSHOP 2026 ✨🎭

🗓 July 19 – August 2, 2026

📣 Applications are NOW OPEN!

Ready to write, perform, collaborate, and create something bold this summer? The OPC Youth Workshop is calling curious, creative, community-driven high school students of all experience levels — no playwriting background required!

💡 What to expect:
✍️ 10-day immersive workshop (July 19–30)
🎬 Write, develop & perform your own original work
🎤 Mentorship from professional playwrights, directors & artists
🌟 Final performance of raw, original pieces
🎟 Access to the OPC New Works Festival (July 31–Aug 2)
👥 Open to 8 students (incoming freshmen → recent grads)
🕙 Daily schedule: 10AM–4PM (plus one day off!)
💸 Tuition: $1,050 (meals included)
💛 Scholarships available

📅 Key Dates:
Applications Close: June 16
Interviews: June 16–23
Decisions: June 23
