The organization's founder has over a decade of experience working as an attorney representing children and families. She is a registered and certified yoga instructor through the Yoga Alliance. Jennifer teaches at the Cuyahoga County Detention Center, as well as a at Acenda Yoga studio in Lakewood, Ohio. She has also taught at The Studio Cleveland. www.thestudiocleveland.com. e senior staff attorney for the ACLU of Ohio. In 2005, Jennifer began practicing yoga as a way to help relieve the stress of her busy life as an attorney and a mother. Within a year of practicing yoga on a regular basis, her health and life had improved immeasurably. She realized that yoga was something that could really benefit the children that she worked with, so she decided to become certified to teach yoga in 2009. After completing her 7 month teacher training with Mitchel Bleier at Inner Bliss Yoga Studio, she began volunteering to teach bi-weekly yoga classes at the local detention center. She has been teaching there ever since, and has started providing classes to children in the community through local organizations. Urban Lotus Youth Yoga was created to expand this program so that yoga can become a regular part of the lives of children living in the Cleveland Metropolitan area.

Join EqualityToledo for an empowering Know Your Rights conversation featuring Jennifer Martinez, Supervising Attorney at ABLE on Tuesday, January 27th from 6:30-8 p.m.

Jennifer will discuss recent legal changes impacting LGBTQ+ students, how families and supporters can advocate for safety and inclusion in schools, and practical tools for navigating IEPs, 504 Plans, and education-related legal concerns. With decades of experience as a civil rights advocate, she brings deep knowledge and a clear understanding of the challenges families are facing in today’s legal landscape.

This session is part of Equality Toledo’s monthly Parent Group and will be held at 1301 Jefferson Ave, Toledo, OH 43604. The event is public and open to parents, caregivers, and allies. See you there!

This is a wonderful show for teens and families to discuss some tough issues that are so very relevant to their lives right now! Tickets are $12 for adults and $10 for youth under 18.
