Our February session took us on a tour of education across Oconto County, and we came away inspired.

We kicked things off at the Oconto Falls School District office, where Superintendent Stuart Russ and the Tech Ed staff gave us a fascinating look at how collaboration drives success in their district. A tour of the Tech Ed department left us amazed at the incredible programs and skills being developed right here in our own backyard.

After a delicious lunch courtesy of the Oconto Falls food service team (thank you! 🙌), we made our way to NWTC Rural Communities Oconto Falls site. LOC alum Debbie Coppens guided us through the programs offered there and highlighted how NWTC's campuses work together seamlessly to deliver quality education and training across northeastern Wisconsin.

To wrap up the day, we headed to Lena Public School District to meet with Superintendent Ben Pytleski and his leadership team. Their candid conversation about the power — and challenges — of collaboration in a small school district was thought-provoking and real.

Leadership Oconto County, January Session was yesterday - what an incredible day exploring the vital services supporting our populations across our county!

Our January session began at Suring Public School District, where we toured their impressive SMAC - Suring Market Agricultural Center and met with their four-person Student Services Department—one of the most thorough and comprehensive teams I've ever encountered in any school. The dedication to student support was truly inspiring.

Rachel from the Oconto Falls Community Library gave us an excellent presentation on the evolving role of public libraries and the specific programs available to our community, followed by Janet Glime from the Marinette & Oconto Counties Literacy Council sharing their important work.

We headed to Gillett for lunch at El Borracho Mexican Grill, where we enjoyed an outstanding taco buffet (way more than we could eat!), then toured New View Industries. We had the privilege of meeting participants and staff, and hearing from Director Will about the program's impact in our community.

We wrapped up our day with Katie Daul from Oconto County UW-Extension, who presented on the effects of poverty in Oconto County and beyond.

Thank you to all our presenters and hosts for sharing your time and expertise with us. We're looking forward to our February session focused on collaboration, synergy, and education!

Time certainly flies when you're having fun! The Leadership Oconto County Class of 2025 held their last seminar where they learned how to deal with conflict and were challenged to dream before celebrating their success at graduation.

Thank you to our facility host: the Town of Little Suamico, as well as Abrams Spotlight Productions, Inc. (and LOC Alumna Brigette Finger as our tour guide) and presenters: David Merges and Mark Cumicek.

We wish our graduates the best of luck as they embark on the next chapter of their leadership journey!

Yesterday was a great day learning about the healthcare gems in our community! Thank you to HSHS St. Clare Memorial Hospital, Oconto Falls Area Ambulance Service/Oconto Falls Community Garden and The Cottages at Meadowlands Senior Living for hosting our group and providing tours!
