A few weeks ago, we delivered two beds to a sweet family in Pascagoula. From the moment I met Edith, we instantly connected. She is a woman with such a deep, unwavering faith — the kind that you feel the moment you walk through her door.
When we left that day, I realized there were three children in the home, but we had only delivered two beds. Sleep in Heavenly Peace provides beds for children up to age 18, and her oldest son, Elijah, is 18 and special needs. I didn’t think much about it at first… until I woke up at 2 AM the next morning with one clear thought on my heart: *Elijah needs a bed.*
I sent a text to our group, and without hesitation, everyone agreed.
Yesterday, Ed, Jack, and I delivered a bed just for Elijah. He wasn’t home — he was at karate class — so I didn’t get to see his reaction when he received his very first bed. But God wasn’t finished with this story yet.
I accidentally forgot to bring a pillow. I was so frustrated with myself… but I went back this morning to drop it off. And that’s when the real blessing happened.
I sat with Elijah as he shared all about his love for Christmas — the lights, the joy, the meaning behind it all. His face lit up as he talked. He wanted to share his favorite Elf outfit with me. Meanwhile, Edith had good old Southern gospel music playing while she made Elijah breakfast and In that moment, I realized something: forgetting that pillow wasn’t a mistake. It was meant to be.
What started as delivering a bed turned into something so much bigger — a new friendship, a divine connection, and a reminder that sometimes we are simply called to listen when we feel that 2 AM nudge.
I feel so incredibly blessed to have met this special family… and my new friend, Elijah. ❤️
