These dedicated volunteers give their time and energy to help remove litter, clean up our streets, and make Marion Oaks a cleaner, more welcoming place for everyone. 👏

But keeping these efforts going takes more than volunteers!

Donations help provide:
• Gloves, trash bags, grabbers, and cleanup supplies.
• Flyers, brochures, banners, and other materials to spread awareness.
• Support for upcoming community cleanup events and volunteer recruitment.

Every contribution, big or small, helps keep these efforts moving forward!

YOU CAN HELP MAKE A DIFFERENCE!

Whether you volunteer your time, make a donation, or simply help spread the word, your support matters.

The crew has created a GoFundMe campaign to help cover supplies, outreach materials, and other expenses associated with their community beautification efforts.

⚠️ BE CAREFUL WHO YOU HIRE TO REMOVE YOUR TRASH!
Illegal dumping continues to be a concern in Marion Oaks, particularly along back roads and vacant properties.
Before hiring an individual or junk removal company, make sure they will dispose of your garbage legally at an authorized facility.
Unfortunately, some people collect money to haul away trash and then illegally dump it elsewhere.

Remember: Just because you paid someone to remove your garbage doesn't mean it was disposed of properly!

♻️ YOU CAN TAKE YOUR OWN HOUSEHOLD GARBAGE TO A COUNTY RECYCLING CENTER!

Marion County operates recycling centers where eligible residents can dispose of household garbage and recyclable materials without an additional drop-off charge, subject to county rules and limits.
Two locations serving the Marion Oaks area are:

📍 Canal Recycling Center
457 SE 110th Street
Ocala, FL 34480

📍 Florida Highlands Recycling Center
8390 SW 150th Street

🕒 Hours for both locations:
Monday, Wednesday & Saturday: 7 AM–5 PM
Friday: 7 AM–7 PM

🚯 REPORTING ILLEGAL DUMPING & LITTER IS NOW EASIER THAN EVER!

Help keep our community clean by reporting litter and illegal dumping.

📞 Call 1-855-PIK-ITUP (1-855-745-4887) to report it.

⚠️ IMPORTANT: IF YOU FIND PERSONAL INFORMATION IN ILLEGALLY DUMPED GARBAGE, DO NOT TOUCH OR REMOVE IT!

If you notice documents, mail, or other items containing names, addresses, or personal information, leave everything exactly where you found it.
Code Enforcement personnel should be allowed to inspect, document, and collect any potential evidence.

Moving, removing, or disturbing these items could compromise evidence and make enforcement more difficult.

✅ Report the location and let the appropriate authorities handle the investigation.

WHEN JUNK AND DEBRIS BECOME MORE THAN JUST AN EYESORE

A property in Summerfield has accumulated nearly $34,000 in Marion County code-enforcement liens, and county commissioners have now voted to move forward with foreclosure.

According to the article, violations involving junk, debris, unserviceable vehicles and recreational vehicles have been occurring since 2020. Marion County has reportedly cleaned the property twice, only for the violations to return.

While this case is in Summerfield, it’s a good reminder for communities throughout Marion County of why keeping properties and neighborhoods free of accumulated junk, debris and illegal dumping matters.

Cleaning up our community isn’t just about appearance — it helps protect property values, keeps neighborhoods safer and prevents small problems from becoming much bigger ones.

Marion County commissioners voted unanimously on Tuesday to foreclose on code-enforcement liens at a Summerfield lot that staff say has stayed a junk and recreational-vehicle nuisance since 2020, even after the county cleaned it twice.
