🥦 🍲Here’s an UPDATE on the current pet nutrition study we’re doing. I always love doing these! It helps share real time and honest results and benefits of feeding your dog a whole food, fresh made diet.

My goal when preparing custom meals for dogs over the last 20 years has always been to create their food in the way their digestive system was created to eat. This helps alleviate allergies, paw and skin licking, scratching, chewing skin and hot spots, bad breath, excessive shedding, over/under weight, low energy, and more. Even for healthy dogs, this way of feeding them lets them thrive on a different level than when fed a dry, processed kibble. This food is made fresh to order and is sourced from our local stores, farmers, and ranchers.

🐕🐕🐕🐕🐕 Of the 5 that are in the study, 2 are severely overweight and start their custom fish 🐟 based food this evening for dinner. One also has very bad allergies with licking and shaking the head from ear inflammation. I’ll keep you updated on Maddy and Mimi as they progress!

🐶🐶Dozier and Bailey started their custom raw turkey based meals this past weekend. Dozier has a history of gastrointestinal issues so we proceeded with caution, but with faith, knowing a whole food based diet would help alleviate his horrible allergy symptoms and hopefully allow him to come off of his meds. I’ll attach a video of their first meal in the comments.

Here is an up close and personal story of why FHRED was created.

Just a few months ago, a young couple reached out to me for some help with dog food. FHRED just started up in May of this year so we are still building resources and finances. Several of my doggie daycare clients donated 50 bags of dog food, so we were able to help them and many others with that. But it went fast. 🐾

This couple shared with me that they had moved down to Florida to help mom, a disabled vet with recently lost benefits. This young couple acquired jobs and got settled in Ocala. But we all know that eats up a lot of money. That is why they were asking for some dog food. They also asked about getting their dog spayed as well as their mom’s dog neutered. I cried that night when I went to bed because it was heavy on my heart. I did not have the resources yet to help with that. The dogs in need were young and at the right age for spay and neuter. These were not neglected dogs who belonged to irresponsible owners. Fast forward a couple of months. No matter how much effort is made, a female dog in heat near an intact male will almost always result in pregnancy. It happened, even though they had mom safely in a crate. Nature prevailed and 7 puppies were the result. Puppies are cute, but accidental litters are completely preventable by spaying and neutering.

FHRED’s path when it comes to spay/neuter is to go through our local vets so that the wait is not extended. This will also lighten the load on those that do discounted spays/neuters in our community. 🐶

This couple showed up at our first fundraiser this past Saturday, ready to help where needed. It was their way of paying it forward. She trimmed dog nails, helped organize things, greeted people with kindness and he sat quietly and supported her and helped when needed. They have been able to find homes for most of the puppies but they are currently 4 weeks old and ready for first vaccinations and deworming. Can we help them out with this? The cost would be approximately $150. And we’d love to be able to help with the spay and neuter when that time comes. FHRED will contribute what we can, but any donations toward this would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for sharing ♥️
