Ocala Lions Established in 1926, we are one of the oldest, continuously serving Lions Clubs in Florida. A major initiative of the Ocala Lions Club is the KidSight Program.

Established in 1926, we are one of the oldest, continuously serving Lions Clubs in Florida. We make significant contributions to our community through the many projects and programs we provide and we enjoy what we do. KidSight is a FREE vision screening program for pre-

school children ages 1 through 6 years of age intended to identify early signs of Amblyopia, also known as "lazy eye". If caught early enough, it can frequently be corrected. If undetected, it can eventually lead to loss of vision. We use a special digital camera / computer system that in less than a second can measure both eyes and calculate the results of a series of tests from a distance of 3 feet from the child without ever touching the child or using any eye drops. We work with the Florida KidSight Foundation. Last year, the Ocala Lions Club screened close to 2100 kids. Those kids showing possible problems are referred to an eye care professional for follow-up. This is an extremely important program that has the potential to change the course of a child's life. We will be happy to schedule KidSight screenings for small groups of 6 or more preschoolers at your site. Every penny raised through our fund raising projects goes back into helping those less fortunate:

KidSight - An important FREE Program to screen pre-school children between ages 1 to 5 years old for Amblyopia, also known as "Lazy Eye". If caught early, it can frequently be corrected. If it goes undetected, it can lead to permanent vision loss. The Ocala Lions Club has purchased state of the art vision screening equipment that lets us screen pre-school kids for FREE from 3 feet away with a digital camera and a special computer analyzes both eyes in a second for Lazy Eye and related conditions. The data is then sent to the Pediatric Opthalmology Department at the University of Florida for review by an Opthalmologist - All for FREE. Silent Santa Program - Last year we provided toys and clothing to over 1,100 children in Marion County. Take Stock in Children - Provides back-to-school supplies and clothing to area children. Scholarships - We provide scholarships in memory of Lions Dave Baillie, Abe Shashy, and Dr. Charlie Marks. Eye Exams, Eye Glasses, Eye Surgeries and Hearing Aids - are provided through various programs supported by the Ocala Lions Club. Disaster Relief - We provide food and supplies to victims of hurricanes and tornados in our community when needed. Lions Club 5K Run - The Ocala Lions Club sponsors the Savage Family 5K run each year and is open to all.

It is with great sadness that we share that Lion Hale Stancil passed away March 21, 2024.

A life long Ocala resident, Lion Hale Stancil served the Fifth Circuit as a Judge for forty-two years, ten years as a County Judge, twenty-three years as a Circuit Judge and nine years as a Senior Judge.

Ocala Lions extends thoughts and prayers to all of his family and friends during this time. He will forever be remembered as a wonderful community leader and friend.
