Hey there, everyone! Zenzi here! 🐾

I know, I know—usually this page is filled with the adorable meows and purrs of my feline foster brothers and sisters. But today, the cats are letting me borrow the keyboard for a very special update!

Can you believe it’s been over a whole year since I packed up my bags and said goodbye to the rescue? Back in late 2024 and early 2025, you guys were all cheering me on, sharing my story, and helping a big German Shepherd girl like me find her perfect place in the world. And guess what? I found it!

Life with my forever family is absolutely wonderful. I have spent the last year learning just how amazing it feels to be fully loved, spoiled, and part of a pack that is all my own. My days are now filled with long walks, tons of belly rubs, and playing in the yard.

Oh! And as you can see from my photo, I’ve also been taking driving lessons! 🚗💨 My parents let me get behind the wheel of the family vehicle, though I’m still working on reaching the pedals and figuring out how to use my mirrors properly. (Don't worry, I don't have my license just yet!)

I might be a big doggo, but this amazing rescue opens its heart to pets from all over the US—especially my feline friends down in Central Florida—when we need them most. Because of you, I got my happily ever after!

Meow there, human friends. My name is Nala.

I’m 17 years old. That means I have spent nearly two decades being a loyal companion, watching the world change, and growing old. For 17 years, I thought I knew what "forever" meant. I thought the family I grew up with would be the ones holding my paw until the very end. But when my body started getting old, tired, and sick... they surrendered me.

Suddenly, the only life I had ever known was completely gone.

I was so incredibly confused. I was losing weight so fast, my tummy always hurt, and I couldn't keep my food down. I felt so small, fragile, and utterly heartbroken. Because of my age and delicate health, I was placed straight into an OCAS foster home so I wouldn't have to face the terrifying noise of a shelter cage. But I still needed a miracle to survive.

That is when United Paws Rescue stepped in. You see, our rescue specializes in taking in the cats who need us most—the seniors and the complex medical cases who are so often left behind, but who deserve every chance at a full, healthy, and dignified life. Even though our rescue helps save cats from all across the US, I came from right here where the rescue was founded, in Central Florida.
They refused to look away from my broken heart, and I was safely transported straight into one of our dedicated United Paws foster homes.

Our rescue vet gave me a full workup, and the news was heavy. I have **severe Hyperthyroidism**. Because it went completely untreated by my family for so long, the illness has spilled over, causing me to develop liver and heart issues, too. My tired little body has been working overtime, fighting a silent battle just to keep going.

I am finally safe now. I am warm, and I am surrounded by a love I haven’t felt in a very long time. But love alone cannot heal my heart or fix my liver. Love alone cannot pay for the intensive veterinary care, specialized medications, and ongoing treatments I desperately need.

They tell me I'm an "old girl," as if my life has less value now. But my spirit isn't broken. I still want to watch the sunshine through the window. I still want to offer my gentle purrs to the humans who care for me. I want so badly to enjoy my golden years without feeling pain and neglect.

Will you please look into my old, tired eyes and tell me that I am still worth saving? Our rescue needs financial help right now to cover my steep medical bills and give me the tomorrow I deserve. Please don't let my story end in heartbreak.

Meow there, friends!
I just had to take a break from my busy schedule of afternoon naps and bird-watching to share some amazing news. I have officially graduated from the rescue and found my forever family!

Before I made it here to United Paws, I was wandering around Central Florida as a stray. The nice people at Orange County Animal Services found me and called me Gray. Even though I was lost and on my own for a little while, everyone who met me knew I used to be someone's spoiled baby because I just love chin scratches and giving headboots so much.

Then, the wonderful team at the rescue took me in and gave me a fresh start (and a handsome temporary name, Patrick!). I knew they would help me find the perfect match, and boy, did they deliver.

My new Mom and Dad walked into my life, and it was love at first sight. I also got the best bonus ever: my very own human sister and human brother to play with! They decided that a sleek, sweet guy like me deserved a legendary name, so they officially named me **Shadow**. It fits perfectly, because wherever my new family goes, I’ll be right there trailing behind them, soaking up all the love.
Thank you to everyone who supported me on my journey from a lonely stray to a cherished family member. To all my feline friends still waiting at the rescue: keep your paws crossed, your purr-fect family is coming for you too!

Charlie is a super sweet roughly 2 year old girl. She LOVES LOVES LOVES people. Want a Netflix buddy? She’s your girl. She loves to be right next to you getting petted all the time. She will give you head butts, kisses, and make sure you know how much she loves you! You leave a door cracked open? She’s pulling it open to come find you and get some cuddle time. When she was outside she did get some damage to her face via an injury to her canine. We fixed it by removing the bad tooth but it does cause her nose to still look a little funny and for her to breathe a little nasally sometimes, but you hardly notice and she is now completely healthy!

Charlie does fine with one or two other cats if they give her space but she really prefers to be the center of your attention. You don’t need any other cats though when you have Charlie, she’s sweet as pie.

Please keep sharing and donating! We are nowhere near covering the cost of these two sweet babies bills. The rescue is done for if we can’t cover this cost. These will be the last two babies we ever help and if they have more issues, we can’t afford it. PLEASE help us.

🆘EMERGENCY FUNDS NEEDED- THE RESCUE IS ON THE VERGE OF CLOSING DOWN FROM LACK OF FUNDS 🆘

We recently rescued Biggie Smalls and Charlie from the trailer park in horrible condition while we were doing TNR there. Biggie smalls needed eye surgery, neuter surgery, and 11 teeth extracted and Charlie had a ruptured abscess on her canine tooth causing severe breathing issues. After surgery, Charlie continued to have some breathing issues, so she went to our vet today to get chest x-rays.

Biggie has also continued to lose weight and tear up his skin after surgery, so he needed a full array of tests today to get to the bottom it. Full bloodwork, thyroid check, ear swabs, more antibiotics. His eye is swollen despite plenty of time passing since his eye surgery so he is getting some steroid + antibiotic eye ointment along with some other meds to help with his ears, skin, eyes, dehydration, and weight loss. He is a hot mess.

Between the unpaid bills we already had from their emergency surgeries along with today, we still need to fundraise 1700 dollars to pay off everything. This is a massive unexpected expense and we did not expect bills to get so high. If we cannot fundraise this amount, the rescue will be forced to close its doors permanently. If you can donate anything to help get this bill down, any amount helps.

🐾 Hi, my name is Patrick!

I am about 2 years old. I am all grey, and my foster mom tells me I am very handsome—she says my sleek fur makes me look like a little silver shadow!
I like to follow the people in my home around and watch what they are doing because I’m very curious (I like to think of myself as a professional supervisor). I also love attention, love to be held, and have lots of energy for play time—feather wands and laser pointers are my specialty! When I’m not exploring or helping you with chores, you can find me stretched out on the couch for a long nap or looking out the window dreaming of my next adventure.
I would be fine as an only cat because I love people so much, but I’d also be happy having cat siblings to keep me company. I can be a little bossy at times with my foster siblings—I just want to run and play all the time with them, and sometimes they want to nap instead! I am learning to respect their space, though, and I’m looking for a family who appreciates a boy with a big personality.
I’ve traveled a long way to find my people, and I can’t wait to finally meet my forever family! Will it be you?

Happy Tail: Ivy’s New Beginning! 🐾

Hi everyone! It’s me, Ivy, checking in with some purr-fect news!
Do you remember where I started? It feels like a lifetime ago, but I was just a tiny thing—barely weighing one pound—lost and shivering in the middle of a busy street in Orlando. The world was so big and loud, and I was so small. But then, a kind friend of the rescue scooped me up and brought me to the wonderful family at United Paws. They saw a fighter in me, even when I was just a handful of fluff.
I spent some time growing big and strong, always wondering when my 'forever person' would arrive.
Well, look at me now! I finally found my Happily Ever After. My new parents are the absolute best—they even bought me this giant yellow flower scratcher just so I can feel like the garden princess I was always meant to be! 🌸
I went from dodging traffic to being the queen of my very own castle. Now, my only 'jobs' are taking long naps on my skull blanket and making sure my new family gets plenty of head-boops and purrs. I’m officially off the market and living my best life!
