As of this evening, plug-in solar legislation has been signed into law in California!

Not only is CA the most populous U.S. state, it's the home of Bright Saver and many of our members. 🌞

For every renter who's watched their energy bill climb while clean energy felt out of reach. For every apartment dweller who thought solar just wasn't for them. For every Californian who just wants to try plug-in solar, today is a great day!

Mountains, beaches, redwoods, big cities, lots of sunshine, and now: Plug-in solar.

The movement isn't over, but we're really excited about where it's going.

Congratulations Californians!

Last week, Energy Empire with Jigar Shah had our Co-founder Cora Stryker on to discuss the momentum and various benefits of plug-in (balcony) solar! Almost an hour of phenomenal plug-in solar discussion.

We want to remind you at the base of our mission is a shared responsibility to protect our planet. Though historically, doing so has often been expensive and only available to some groups.

Plug-in solar checks all the boxes.
Energy independence ✅ Clean energy ✅ Electricity bill deduction ✅

That's why we believe in plug-in solar, and clearly you all do too! 11 states passed and we're not stopping soon.

NYC Climate Week is this week.
Basically, where all of the coolest people (with very important voices!) and organizations come together to talk about tomorrow. Because you can't talk about tomorrow without talking about climate and our planet. 🌞

Bright Saver's own Cora Stryker will be joined by Bill McKibben (350.org, Third Act), Anya Schoolman (Solar United Neighbors), and Utah State Rep. Raymond Ward for a panel on how plug-in solar can lower energy costs, expand access, and power a consumer-led clean energy transition.

Welcome to the movement. 🌞

For those who are new here, we're glad you found us!!

Bright Saver is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit reshaping clean energy markets to benefit everyday consumers. We get people access to plug-in solar which lowers their bills and simultaneously fight climate change. Our goal is to then turn that growing membership into a force that wins policy change. With 10 states passed this year and 35 introduced, 2027 looks mighty bright.

California just passed SB 868, the "Plug and Play Solar Act!" 🌞🐻

The Golden State is now the largest in the country to say yes to plug-in solar, opening the door for millions of renters and homeowners to access clean, affordable energy.

To our California members: congratulations and thank you. Your support made this possible. This is a huge milestone, but make no mistake, it's only the beginning!!

For the first time ever, solar generated more electricity than coal in the United States in a month. 🌞

It didn't happen in one way, it happened every way.

Solar thermal plants. Utility-scale farms. Community solar projects. Residential solar. Agrivoltaics.
Every form of solar played, and will continue to play a role in crossing those thresholds.

Remember, this is what a clean energy transition actually looks like. Not one big solution, but millions of them working together.

The sun showed up for us in May. Let's do the sun a favor and continue to harvest the energy it so kindly offers us!

When the New York Times covered plug-in solar and Bright Saver last week, readers had a lot to say.

California to Seattle to Colorado, People get it.
Plug-in solar is affordable, accessible, and safe. And the word is spreading.

Our favorite? "We should all be able to harness our own energy. The sun belongs to us all."

We understand plug-in solar is a new concept for many. Though plug-in solar relies on PV technology the same way a rooftop installation does, there's some critical differences between the two.
