Kicking off summer with purpose. 💙

This month, Salesforce Women’s Network (SWN) Philanthropy hosted a fireside chat with Laura Hackney (AnnieCannons CEO) in conversation with Schuyler Kaye (Global Director of Nature & Sustainability Solutions at Salesforce) and Brit Ferguson (Director of Customer Success Management at Salesforce), hosted by the wonderful, Christina Stilianos (SWN NYC Co Chair)

Together with Salesforce Sustainability & Philanthropy, we explored what it really takes to drive long-term impact: trauma-informed training, career development, AI integration, and the power of consistent human connection through mentorship.

Hearing from mentor Brit Ferguson brought it all to life, making it clear that there's a role for all of us in building new career opportunities.

Grateful to gather in person in NYC and energized for the year ahead. If you're curious about getting involved with AnnieCannons through mentorship or speaker sessions, please reach out.

ResourceFull has launched!

We’re onboarding nonprofits nationwide to a platform designed to make finding help easier, faster, and more transparent for people in need.

If your organization provides free direct services, including housing, therapy, legal aid, healthcare, case management, workforce support, and more, we invite you to join us in connecting your mission to the people it’s meant to serve. We are conducting a full rollout in specific cities, vetting qualified organizations, and will be sharing more about our progress in the coming months.

Thank you to the nonprofits, early adopters, community partners, and people with lived experience who helped shape the redesigned platform following our beta launch. Your feedback helped improve how people search for and find support.

Better access starts with better collaboration.

Happy Cohort Launch Week! A new group of students is joining our classroom for the very first time, beginning a journey into tech that will change the trajectory of their lives.

At the same time, students who started their journey in January are moving into advanced coursework, deepening skills and growing confidence.

And our most advanced students? They're stepping into apprenticeships, bringing their talents to real clients and real projects as professional software developers.

Three generations of the same cohort, all moving forward together.

This is what transformation looks like in motion. We are so proud of every single one of them.

Welcome to your next chapter. 💙

AnnieCannons is so pleased to share that we have officially launched a partnership with The Global Technology Industry Association (GTIA) to support our coding training program! GTIA’s funding support will help us grow our Apprenticeship Program as well as support our Ethical AI Education Initiatives.

We are one of 45 nonprofit organizations worldwide to have received a GTIA grant in 2025. GTIA’s investment reinforces the association’s commitment to advancing access, equity, education, workforce development, and technology-driven innovation.

“Philanthropy has long been central to GTIA’s mission,” said Kelly Ricker, chief operating officer of GTIA. “In 2025, our members helped us take decisive steps to scale our impact – investing in organizations that use technology to expand opportunities, promote equity and create lasting change. Every advancement we make in our giving programs is driven by the commitment and shared purpose of our member community. Their leadership ensures that innovation truly benefits communities worldwide.”

At the start of this year, our teaching team received news that our existing Learning Management System (LMS) platform would no longer be supporting nonprofits like ours. So what did our team do? We built an amazing new platform for our students and classroom. Led and deployed by our incredible Director of Learning and Technology, Catie Hart, we mapped and coded an entirely new system for assignments, grading, student support, resources, quizzes, career resources, and feedback for our students. We focused on meeting the unique needs of our classroom, prioritizing what we have learned from years of teaching, accessibility, collaboration, and security.

When individuals have access to today’s tools, including AI, they can build responsible technology that improve the lives of others and help others grow into their full potential. We are now living in a world where if you can dream it, you can build it. Let’s keep building the tools that really matter.

Last week, members of the AnnieCannons team had the privilege of attending the Good Tech Together Summit, and it was exactly the kind of gathering we need more of. 🙌

Being in a room full of mission-driven technologists, nonprofits, and advocates reminded us why this work matters and energized us for what's ahead. Thank you to the Good Tech Together team for creating such an inspiring space. We left with new connections, new ideas, and renewed conviction that tech can be a force for justice We also built a new prototype for grant writing!!

This week, our CEO, Laura Hackney, attended the United Nations General Assembly - Women Breaking Barriers event in New York City.

Rise – a non-profit advocacy organization for the rights of survivors of sexual violence – and Spotlight Initiative – the United Nations high-impact initiative for the elimination of violence against women and girls – with support from the Permanent Mission of Viet Nam to the United Nations, and the Permanent Mission of Sweden to the United Nations – organized ‘Women Breaking Barriers’, a high-level event recognizing trailblazing women across different industries and geographic regions at the conclusion of Women’s History Month.

Amazing highlights included hearing from UN Deputy Secretary-General Amina Mohammed,
Audrey Nuna (of HUNTR/X), Tatyana McFadden (American Paralympic Athlete), Jessica Sibley (CEO of TIME Magazine), Fereshteh Forough (Founder of Code to Inspire), Amanda Nguyen (Astronaut, Founder & CEO of Rise), Katya Echazarreta (Astronaut), and Dr. Sian Proctor (Astronaut).
