This week, we followed Greg from Piikup on his produce route to the corner stores we work with across Oakland.
As he delivered fresh fruits and vegetables, we talked with him about what this work looks like day to day, the relationships built along the way, and what it means to help make produce more accessible in neighborhoods where grocery access isn’t always easy.

Saba works with local corner stores to make fresh food more accessible, available, and affordable in the places people already shop.

This week, Saba is delivering 700 pounds of fresh produce to our corner store partners across Oakland. 🍎🥬
That’s 700 more pounds of healthy food entering neighborhoods that have been historically underserved and excluded from equitable food access. Every delivery is part of a larger effort to make fresh produce more visible, available, and accessible in the communities that deserve it most.

Fresh5x is doing what it does best: keeping fruits and veggies in the cart, even when EBT gets cut.
Phillip sees it every day at Wah Fay Liquors. When customers have a little extra to spend on produce, fresh food stays within reach, and the store gets to keep serving the neighborhood the way it should.

Alameda County data shows these neighborhoods will be hit hardest by upcoming SNAP cuts:
Fruitvale, East Oakland, Elmhurst, Ashland, and San Lorenzo
They fall within Supervisorial Districts 2, 3, and 4.
This is where Saba works.
We partner with corner stores to increase access to fresh produce in neighborhoods that need it most.
In Districts 3 and 4, that work is already happening. Many of these stores also use our $5 to $1 match program, Fresh5X, helping SNAP users stretch their budgets for fruits and vegetables.
This is how we close the gap:
Real food, in local stores, in the communities most affected.
