East Bay Front Runners

East Bay Front Runners & Walkers is a LGBTQ+ group. We follow our exercise with brunch at one of several great local restaurants.

East Bay Front Runners is a group of lesbians, gay men, bisexuals, transgenders and friends who get together to run and walk in scenic locations on the east side of San Francisco Bay every Saturday morning at 9:00. Runners generally complete 3-7 miles and walkers complete 2-4 miles. While the Saturday morning run/walk is our club’s staple, we also enjoy pot lucks, movie nights, museum tours, ballg

ames, wine tastings, and occasional weekend getaways. We welcome people of all athletic abilities, from casual walker to competitive runner, and everyone in between. We take pride in being friendly and inviting, and we encourage you to come out and see for yourself. Our running and walking events are non-competitive, self-paced, range from three to seven miles, and last 45 minutes to one hour. All paths and trails are easily accessible to runners and walkers alike. COVID Information

Last Saturday post Lake Merritt run/walk: we relaxed-mingled and enjoyed dim sum at fabulous downtown Oakland rooftop hangout! Thanks and Akash for hosting!

Summer is coming up and we have plenty of EBFRW events lined up! Including Eurovision 2026 grand finale viewing party, collaborative run/walk with , .ballers pride night, post run/walk kayaking at , volunteer at and many pride events and front runner sponsored runs ( , , , , )

Last Saturday we met for a fun run and walk in Alameda/harbor island for our usual meetup for the first Saturday of the month. And in the weekend before that we ran lake chabot for our unusual 5th Saturday of the month.

About 20 club members gave back to the community by volunteering at the water station #5 today! It was a huge turnout with over 11,000 runners (~10 being our own team members) participating in 5k, 10k, half-marathon, and full marathon events! Appreciate everyone who lent a hand, volunteered, ran, cheered, and supported today's successful event!

Yesterday's EBFRW run and walk around Harbor Island in Alameda was a blast! We enjoyed perfect weather and a fantastic turnout, including 5 of our future front runners! Join us next Saturday, March 14th at 9am in Lake Merritt as we soak up the sunny forecast!

The festival runs from 12pm to 10pm and the “Drag me to the cinema” block with starts at 6pm!

We will have a East Bay Front Runners table from 2 to 6pm! Stop by to say hi to our volunteers before heading to Drag me to the cinema!

Last Saturday we met and celebrated our 2026 annual membership meeting during dinner. Among a great review of 2025 achievements, fun with raffles and awards, the membership voted in favor of appointing the following members as Club Officers for 2026:
Jeff Holman, President
Simone Adair, Vice President
Betsy Kirkpatrick, Secretary
Harry Yuen, Treasurer
Gillian Rhett, Officer at Large

In addition, in a recent online special election, members voted in favor of bestowing lifetime EBFRW membership upon Simone Adair and Allyssa Adair. Simone was recognized for “her many years of dedicated leadership in EBFRW and the Bay Area running community.” Allyssa was honored for “her many years of dedication to building community as EBFRW Social Director.”

The Club also unveiled the Terry Hudson Volunteer of the Year Award to perpetually honor Terry, who epitomized the above and beyond spirit of volunteerism that has helped make EBFRW the organization it is today. The board unanimously voted to bestow this honor on Allyssa Adair as the first recipient of this award for her outstanding dedication and service to the Club.

Thank you for all the amazing work you do for EBFRW and for the LGBTQ running community!

5th Saturday or the month we run and walk along the lake chabot! Great way to enjoy sunny SF Bay Area and get some vitamin D!

Meet us next Saturday at 9am to walk or run along the shoreline of Bay Farm Island in Alameda! Meet up at the end of Veterans Court. This venue offers two distances: an out-and-back four-miler to the ferry terminal, and an almost six-mile loop around the tip of the peninsula. There is plenty of free parking along the street.
