Hatch Hatch: Young Parents Creating Community Hatch's doula trainings build life skills in emotional literacy, reliability, and responsibility.

Our doula programs help participants become more employable and economically self sufficient. Our emphasis on meaningful skill building and opportunity equips young parents with the competence and confidence to positively impact their own lives and the lives of other young parents. In doing so, they build a community of empowered peer support. Hatch’s trainings are uniquely designed to teach emoti

onal literacy and parenting skills, while also building a community of peer support. Participants provide emotional, informational, and practical support to parents through pregnancy and early parenting. Our doulas apply evidence-based practices while learning the importance of empathy, trust, emotional understanding, and self-care. Hatch helps spread awareness and knowledge- transforming generations through trusting relationships, peer education, and advocacy. Mission

The Details
WHY DOULAS? Hatch doulas are trained to provide services to people of diverse backgrounds, identities, and life experiences - with a trauma-informed approach. Our goal is to make doula services relatable and accessible with doulas who reflect the experiences of the families they serve. Ongoing mentoring, trainings, and groups provide our doulas and the families they serve with multiple layers of support that continue to grow and adapt to the needs of each person and child. Hatch also connects its participants to existing resources in the greater community to support young people in pursuing their goals and dreams. This includes connections to appropriate educational, vocational, and transitional programs and resources. PILOT PROGRAM:

Hatch launched its birth doula pilot program in August, 2015. The intensive birth doula training took place over two weekends followed by 9 months of mentorship and ongoing trainings focused on skill development, community building, and personal growth. Throughout the program our doulas provided peer education and each served 3-5 families. HATCH IS GROWING:

In response to the needs and visions expressed by our community, Hatch continues to expand and develop programs and resources that directly compliment our existing birth doula program. IN 2016, HATCH PLANS TO OFFER:

A minimum of 2 doula training programs
Mentorship and services for existing doulas
Development of new training programs to increase overall impact
Postpartum Doula Training
Childwatch Doula Training
CSEC Outreach
Further develop opportunities for
Financial Empowerment
Social Entrepreneurship
