UAOS stood united yesterday.

UAOS members showed up and stood together at the School Board Meeting to advocate for contract bargaining for Oakland administrators.

Administrators play a critical role in supporting students, staff, families, and school communities every day. Now, we are calling for a fair process that addresses the issues that directly impact our work: pay, safety, and workload.

When administrators are supported, schools are stronger.

Last Tuesday, UAOS gathered to celebrate the end of the school year and honor several of our members as they step into retirement.

It was a meaningful evening filled with gratitude, reflection, and appreciation for the leaders who have dedicated so much of their time, energy, and care to Oakland schools and our community.

Congratulations to all of our retirees, and thank you to everyone who joined us in celebrating another year of leadership, service, and solidarity.

UAOS and OUSD agreed to conduct a Joint Study on salary and compensation comparables.

Key Finding #2: UAOS members’ take home pay is not competitive.
The study found that even with benefits factored in, UAOS members are paid, on average, 14% below comparable neighboring districts.

Base pay for APs, Principals, and Central Administrators is also significantly below the average across peer districts.
This is about more than numbers. Competitive compensation helps retain experienced leaders in Oakland schools.

On International Workers Day, UAOS stands in recognition of the labor movement and the collective power of workers.
