We are excited to announce and welcome Tashika Campbell to our Board!
From Tashika:
For some time now, I've had the joy of serving as Diversity Manager within this vibrant community. In that role, I've witnessed firsthand the power of intentional inclusion. Creating space for different voices, backgrounds and perspectives doesn't just strengthen improv, it transforms it.
Stepping into this new position on the Board feels like a natural extension of that work and is also an exciting opportunity to help shape the future of the community that has given me so much.
Community is not accidental, it is built with care, intention and consistency. It requires us to show up and not just for ourselves, but for each other. In my time as Diversity Manager, I've seen how powerful it can be when people feel seen, valued and included.
As I step into this new role, I carry that understanding with me. My hope is to continue fostering a space where everyone, regardless of experience level or background, feels empowered to take risks, to be creative and to be fully themselves.
Here's to the next chapter and to continuing the work of making Improv Utopia not just a place to perform, but a place to belong.
Tashika Campbell
Board Member and Diversity Manager
Improv Utopia
***********
We are beyond thrilled to officially welcome Tashika Campbell to the Improv Utopia board of directors.
Many of you already know Tashika through her work with F.A.M. Fest, Baltimore Improv Group and especially as our Diversity Manager, but for those who haven't had the pleasure, she has been a tireless advocate for diversity, equity and inclusion in the improv and comedy world. Her contributions to IU specifically have been real, substantive and felt. From helping shape how we communicate our DEI values to the broader community, to showing up as a voice that centers underrepresented performers, Tashika brings both the heart and the experience to back it up.
Having her move from contributor to board member feels exactly right. This is someone who has already invested in what we're building, and now she has a seat at the table where those decisions get made.
Our current board consists of Wendy Penrod, Alrinthea Carter, Brian O'Connell, Jessica Young, Nick Armstrong and now Tashika Campbell!
We are so lucky to have Tashika and it's only going to make the Improv Utopia experience even better.
