Introducing Theodore Bear IV 🐻 of Northern NJ

His Royal 🫅 Poodleness has had at least 4 homes that we know of already in his 4 years of existence and goes by many names. Theo. Bear. Teddy. Poodle. He will pretty much answer to anything as long as you say it sweetly and give him attention. He was passed from home to home for the general reasons… no time, moving, etc. He’s a little nervous and anxious but has been a pretty easy going dog-friendly sweet boy since coming to us. We have had reports of some resource guarding of food, bones, toys, and beds in some of his past homes and sometimes needing to be muzzled for grooming. So he’s probably going to have some quirks as he settles in and need an adult home that knows how to avoid conflict with weird little dogs and give him space at times, and not get their feelings hurt easily if there is a disagreement. He’s was not even 13lbs under all his mats and does have a non-shedding poodle coat, and has now been neutered and updated on shots.

For adoption Northern NJ:

Even a Monday can’t wipe the smile off our goofy class clown Dougie’s face 😃

He always looks like he’s smiling and laughing at an inside joke you aren’t included in. He’s 6 years old but with springs on his feet and bursts of puppy-zoomies energy before he’s happy to curl up next to you for a cuddle. He’s a 6 year old Rat Terrier, 16lbs, neutered and updated on shots. He came to us literally starved for food and love. He’s put on weight and getting enough food but can never get enough love 💕. He’s super friendly and social, loves meeting new people and making new friends. He can get territorial of his person and couches/beds if living in a home with multiple people so does best with just one person living in the household and/or having his own bed on the floor rather than being allowed on furniture. He’s great with other dogs of all sizes and lived with a large dog previously, plays a bit rough and loves to chase, be chased, and wrestle. He loves the car, was well housebroken in his previous home, and is overall a fun happy adventure and snuggle buddy.

Fiercely loyal Prince Henry is looking for a chihuahua person, northern NJ

Get your tissues ready. Prince Henry looks like he’s smiling but he has a very sad story to tell 🎻 🎻 🎻

This 8 year old chi mix was adopted from our rescue about 2 years ago. He was with us a while and a tough sell. He took time to warm up and wasn’t great meeting adopters, but he finally found an experienced chihuahua loving middle-aged couple who accepted him, flaws and all. Their lives revolved around him and he adored and protected them. We received updates and though he had challenges meeting new people and accepting visitors, he had found his perfect home that was 💯 committed to him.

A few tragic weeks recently put an end to our little Prince’s fairy tale. His dad had been in the hospital battling some health issues and preparing for a big surgery. While that was going on, his mom suffered a sudden and unexpected heart attack and passed away. We got the call from a neighbor who knew he was adopted from our rescue, and because of his feisty personality there were no family or friends able to care for him with no one in the house. Once a Second Chance dog, always a Second Chance dog of course, so we immediately picked him up and he returned to his original foster home. We hoped to reunite him with his beloved dad who did not want to lose him, but he sadly also succumbed to his health issues just 2 weeks later.

Prince Henry is now an orphan as he enters his senior years and looking to start over. Over the years, his ferociously protective personality unfortunately alienated any friends or relatives of his adopters who might have been willing to take him in otherwise. Luckily he remembered us and his foster home right away and quickly settled back into a routine, further showing just how loyal he is to his chosen friends though he hadn’t seen us for 2 years.

What he lacks in people skills, he makes up for in dog skills. He LOVES other dogs- meeting new ones, playing with them, sleeping cuddled next to them. He’s happy with pack life, so if someone has a pack of dysfunctional little dogs that also chase away visitors he would fit in seamlessly. He can warm up with proper introductions to some people if they toss treats and ignore him, but assume he will be the type to be put in another room when intruders come and not be invited to family events. He’s a lovable cuddler once he trusts and is hoping some antisocial lover of quirky little dogs will take a chance on him. He’s about 15lbs and we think chihuahua/pomeranian/jack Russell maybe. His teeth show all the time, whether a wide-mouthed cheerful grin greeting his few friends, or defensive flashy show to scare off the Amazon delivery truck.

Scruffy puppy for adoption Northern New Jersey!

Meet our newest puppy man Maximus!

This guy is only about 7-8 months old, under 9 lbs full grown, and already been passed around by people without the time or commitment to care for a puppy. He’s a friendly fun spunky tiny terrier who loves to play and cuddle. We aren’t sure of his mix, maybe Yorkie/schnauzer/chihuahua and has a short fine wiry coat that does shed and doesn’t seem to need a lot of grooming. He’s getting his shots and neuter this week (and he definitely needs it! ASAP! He practically does a handstand to get his p*e as high as possible so other dogs think he’s bigger than he is, and is very very interested in flirting with the little girl dogs 😆 They are not amused). So get your applications in now and he will be ready for a home very soon.

There was a serious incident involving Dougie in his foster home yesterday.

His bed spontaneously exploded. 🤯 💣

He’s ok. His bed is not.

There was a scary thunderstorm. ⛈️. He claims a flash of lightening came into the house through a window and hit his bed only, narrowly missing him and all the other dogs and their beds. The other dogs haven’t corroborated his story. But they aren’t letting him have any more nice beds, only flat blankets that can’t explode for Dougie now.

But anyways, Dougie is marked safe from the exploding bed ✅ and looking for a home where this kind of stuff doesn’t happen.
