The Kona Low floods caused significant damage in Waialua, including the loss of waʻa supplies and equipment that were being stored on our founder’s farm.

Over the past two weeks, we have been focused on cleanup and recovery, with the support of dedicated volunteers and our broader community. Mahalo nui to and our amazing I Nui Ke Aho volunteers for showing up with care and commitment to help clean and recover what we could.

At this time, we are working to replace essential supplies needed for our waʻa programs. With Wānana Pāoa set to return to her home waters this summer, your support will help ensure we are ready to continue serving our community.

Join us for a hands-on lauhala weaving workshop where participants will create woven fans inspired by traditional sails—reflecting on the role of weaving in wayfinding, voyaging, and relationship to the sea.

This workshop is an opportunity to slow down, work with your hands, and connect to the cultural practice of Ulana and its relationship to ʻike kupuna.

The Winter Solstice marks the sun’s deepest journey south, a sacred turning point of darkness, reflection, and renewal. A time to honor ancestors, prepare for new growth, and reconnect with the deep ocean realm of Kanaloa.

Even in the longest night, light is returning. May this season guide us gently toward balance and renewal.
