After a brief hiatus, the Norton Police Golf Tournament is back! This event assists us with supporting various organizations within the Town of Norton.

The tournament will be held at the Brookmeadow Country Club on September 5, 2024 and begin at 9:00 AM.

For sponsors, we are asking for $125 for a small donation and 500$ for a large. Each team must consist of 4 players, which costs $600 per team. We are only accepting 28 teams this year. Therefore, only a completed payment will hold a team's spot. For payment, a QR code (linked to Venmo) is attached to the handouts. We will also take cash or checks.

Please contact one of the following with any questions:

New Year - New Look! We put a lot of thought into changing our logo. We wanted something that was bright, colorful, and could clearly explain what we do. But, we didn't want to stray too far away from our roots. So, without further ado, we'd like to show our new logo! The infinity symbol represents....

Welcome to our newest member!

We are happy to announce the newest addition to the Norton Police Department, K9 Ryder. Ryder was appointed tonight by the Selectboard. He is 11 weeks old and attending the puppy academy. He will be actively involved in community policing assignments throughout the town. He came to us from Golden Opportunities for Independence (GOFIDOG)service dog program.

His handler is Det. Rachel Mailloux who is a 15 year veteran, assigned to the Detective Division and also a part time SRO in the elementary schools.

He is very excited to get to work!

RIP!

RIP!

Today, with a tremendously heavy heart and true sadness, I must share news of the tragic and sudden passing of Officer Henry Breckenridge. Despite the heroic efforts of Salem Hospital staff, Henry did not survive complications that arose from a non-emergency surgery.

Henry was one of the nicest and most gentle people I have had the honor to know. I know that sentiment is shared throughout our department and with the entire Peabody community. Henry was an outstanding police officer with firm grasp on community policing and as a dedicated member of our team, he will be greatly missed. He was well regarded by all sectors of our community, but particularly by our young citizens. There has been an outpouring of support and tributes in his honor from many young people whose lives he has impacted in a positive way. These are testaments to the caliber of his character which include authenticity, kindness, and compassion.

The photo I am sharing was taken by community member Cheryl Millard, fondly known as Peabody’s Picture Lady. She told us this morning, that just before snapping this picture, she had asked Henry to push his hat back a little so she could see his eyes and that prompted laughter and his trademark smile that we will forever remember.

The Breckenridge family is devastated and Henry’s brothers and sisters in law enforcement support them and share in their grief. We will all need to pull together and lean on each other during this difficult time.

Respectfully,

Chief Tom Griffin
