IAOVC - ITALOFACT - August 31
Maria Tecla Artemisia Montessori, born on August 31, 1870 in the province of Ancona, Italy, developed The Montessori Method of education. A physician, feminist, social reformer, and, of course noted educator, she passed away in 1952 at the age of 81. Her educational methods for children, that started at the first "Casa Dei Bambini" which opened on January 6, 1807 in Roma, continue worldwide at Montessori schools and centers. The first in the USA was opened in October 1911 in Tarrytown, NY. There are currently more than 5,000 schools in the US related to the Montessori Method and nearly 16,000 worldwide. Andre' DiMino, IAOVC President, was the guest on "The Update" podcast with host Rabbi Daniel Schonbuch discussing Mayor Mamdani's NYC Ethnic Map which omitted Little Italy as well as Jewish and other neighborhoods. We are very pleased that Rabbi Schonbuch had IAOVC on to discuss this affront to our communities, and we hope for more opportunities to cooperate. IAOVC continues to foster unity among different communities, as we have done with Native Americans, and welcome other groups to join together. Let's strive for unity and not division!
