Bibles and BBQ Ministries

Bibles and BBQ Ministries is ramping up for our Saturday event at Larimer County Community Corrections. And man did we score big today. 120 lbs of Chicken Quarters, ~ 87 lbs of pork spare ribs (16 racks), and green beans. Managed to get all the chicken quarters for 25 % off and the pork spare ribs at 30% off. The ribs will be a real treat for the folks we serve, we normally don't get them due to price and everything we do is funded by donations. So we really try and make those $$ go as far as we can. We are looking forward to serving folks a good BBQ meal, providing a lesson, praying with them, and really just meeting folks where they are at. We are also actively looking for more organizations in the Denver Metro and Northern Front Range to partner with.

Having a huge, commercial ole hickory smoker for the nonprofit is awesome. Allows me to do some huge cooks for those in need and put out some top notch BBQ. The not so cool part is cleaning it. It's a doozy but done and doesn't need to be done for at least a few cooks now. I was pretty filthy after doing it and this was more of a quick spot clean of the shelves and shoveling out a bunch of grease from the bottom.

Here in the trailer smoking some brisket and chicken quarters for a friend's rehearsal dinner today. Not gonna lie it's been a long haul and I have been at this since 6:30 pm yesterday. Look over, see these, and they brightened my day. These were donated and put up by one of our volunteers, Wendy Steele. We love our volunteers and thanks Wendy.

On another note, we have been reflecting on how far the ministry has come today and how next month will be our 1 year anniversary as a nonprofit.

Bibles and BBQ Ministries

Bibles and BBQ Ministries had our monthly event at Larimer County Community Corrections this past Saturday, July 11th. We smoked up 160 lbs of chicken quarters, 20 lbs of hot links in BBQ sauce, sweet potatoes, and Wendy Steele provided brownies. The clients loved everything and the brownies were a nice added bonus. I did a lesson on not getting stuck in the past and moving forward. I leveraged Philippians 3:13-14. In these verses Paul talks about not having reached where he wants to be fully with his Christianity/Faith, pushing forward, and pressing forward to the goal to win the prize for which God had called him heavenward in Jesus Christ. I spoke about how this related to our journey with Christianity and becoming a Christian was not the end goal but the start of a journey and then spoke to the parallels between this and recovery. I also spoke to challenges in my own life and past that were related. It was all well received. We also prayed with several folks. It was a wonderful day and God definitely had his hand in it.

We meant to get this out earlier, Bibles and BBQ Ministries wanted to thank everyone that came out to support us and GQue Westminster at our fundraising event at June 1st. You all showed up big time and it resulted in 20 additional tickets at GQue that night which ultimately resulted on $150 in funds that can be used for our ministry to feed folks, provide Bibles, and share the message of Christ. GQue also donated a 50 lb box of BBQ rub which will go to good use.

Come GQue Westminster tomorrow June 1st between 4-8 PM and support Bibles and BBQ Ministries. Eat some tasty BBQ, support a local CO Business, and a portion of the proceeds will go to our ministry. The funds are used for food, Bibles, supplies, and ultimately sharing the story of Christ with those we serve. Thanks in advance.
