Smudge is seeking her forever home! She has made amazing progress in her foster home—she will greet her foster mom when she comes downstairs in the morning, has started grooming her, and will even come when called!

We are absolutely overjoyed as Peggy and Angelica have settled in beautifully in their forever home. This is especially meaningful as they had been adopted previously by a friend of the rescue, but were tearfully returned due to another rabbit in the household whose medical needs became much more demanding. However, their would-be adopter continued to visit Peg and Angie in their foster home, and was finally able to take them home this past week. The girls are SO HAPPY and have been binkying, flopping, and accepting lots of pets and kisses.

Peg and Angie originally came to WMRR in October 2021 from an abandoned breeding operation. Though they been adopted about a year later, circumstances changed and they were returned to WMRR, where they waited a *very* long time for their forever family. We are so grateful for their wonderful foster family who took such great care of them, and we are ecstatic that they get to spend the rest of their lives with someone who loves them so much. Congratulations to Peggy, Angelica, and their fabulous human!

Our hearts are heavy with the sad news that sweet little Punkin passed away. She had been doing well, playing and acting like her spirited self, but went into sudden respiratory arrest this evening. Her foster family, who have been INCREDIBLE, made sure she had the absolute best care and gave her a happy life. We are beyond heartbroken for them.

We will all miss this brave little bunny who touched so many lives. Thank you to Everybunny Counts Rabbit Rescue for taking over Punkin’s care as WMRR had gone remote. Thank you to everyone who has donated toward Punkin’s care. We encourage you to support Everybunny Counts if you wish to make a donation in her memory.

It’s cherry blossom season in Japan, and of course Jordana encountered a bunny. This sweet little lop nuzzled herself into her arms—and then promptly peed all over her cherry blossom yukata. 🤣

We took this as an auspicious sign!

Punkin is back at home now after spending the better part of yesterday at the vet. We saw substantial improvement on oxygen, and she continued to do well on room air. By the end of the day, the vet felt comfortable sending her home where she could continue to recover in familiar surroundings. Punkin is such a trooper.

Unfortunately, things took a turn for Punkin very early this morning as she started experiencing labored breathing, so her foster family took her to the ER. She is doing better now that she’s on oxygen, but her head tilt is profound and she has nystagmus. We are starting treatment for an upper respiratory infection and closely monitoring.

Punkin’s vet bills are mounting. We *really* need your help.

Punkin is continuing to improve. She is taking syringe feeding well, eating greens, and her pain seems to be fairly controlled. However, as you can see in the photo, her head is still quite tilted. It has shown improvement and most likely will continue to improve, but is still more tilted than the Dr. Adair would like.

Punkin is ready to go back home, but will need syringe feeding, some cage modification, and TLC.

Our sweet little trooper Punkin is staying overnight at VESH. Dr. Adair operated on her right ear and did a myrengotomy on the left. Unfortunately, she’s very tilty now, but hopefully it will subside as she heals.
