Sweet Smudge is looking for her forever home! She is the last of our WMRR buns in a foster home. Potential placements unfortunately fell through, and so this little lady is on the market for a family.

Smudge is a sweet, intelligent bunny who enjoys being around people. Her foster human says that she will eat right out of her hand and groom her. Smudge is very smart and will come when called. She likes to run, play, and explore her environment.

Email us at [email protected] for an application. Serious inquiries only.

Unfortunately our former page which was hacked has been targeted by a scammer. We are unable to remove the post, but if you see it please comment that it’s a scam and report.

We are NOT selling alumni t-shirts. The photo is AI. We only accept donations via our PayPal link. We are still supporting sanctuary rabbits, but are not running any active fundraisers.

Thank you!

Here’s a peek at some of the bunny-themed gifts we’ve curated for the Japan bunny fundraiser! We had a lot of fun searching for bunny gifts in Osaka and Kyoto, and we’re excited to send these off to our generous donors.

Though we’ve closed the shelter 😭, we have two rabbits in permanent sanctuary homes (Poppy and Bee), one available for adoption (Smudge!), and one who may or may not be a sanctuary bunny (Munchkin). We will continue to financially support these bunnies’ veterinary needs for the remainder of their time with WMRR, so we are grateful for continued donations.

If you missed out on the Japanese bunny fundraiser and would like to donate to WMRR and receive a prize pack, we are still accepting donations at the $150 and $250 levels. If you already donated, gifts are being boxed up and shipped this week.

Smudge is seeking her forever home! She has made amazing progress in her foster home—she will greet her foster mom when she comes downstairs in the morning, has started grooming her, and will even come when called!

Smudge loves to run, play, and explore like the happy bunny she is. Do you have a spot in your heart and home for Smudge? Email us at [email protected] for an adoption application!

We are absolutely overjoyed as Peggy and Angelica have settled in beautifully in their forever home. This is especially meaningful as they had been adopted previously by a friend of the rescue, but were tearfully returned due to another rabbit in the household whose medical needs became much more demanding. However, their would-be adopter continued to visit Peg and Angie in their foster home, and was finally able to take them home this past week. The girls are SO HAPPY and have been binkying, flopping, and accepting lots of pets and kisses.

Peg and Angie originally came to WMRR in October 2021 from an abandoned breeding operation. Though they been adopted about a year later, circumstances changed and they were returned to WMRR, where they waited a *very* long time for their forever family. We are so grateful for their wonderful foster family who took such great care of them, and we are ecstatic that they get to spend the rest of their lives with someone who loves them so much. Congratulations to Peggy, Angelica, and their fabulous human!

Our hearts are heavy with the sad news that sweet little Punkin passed away. She had been doing well, playing and acting like her spirited self, but went into sudden respiratory arrest this evening. Her foster family, who have been INCREDIBLE, made sure she had the absolute best care and gave her a happy life. We are beyond heartbroken for them.

We will all miss this brave little bunny who touched so many lives. Thank you to Everybunny Counts Rabbit Rescue for taking over Punkin’s care as WMRR had gone remote. Thank you to everyone who has donated toward Punkin’s care. We encourage you to support Everybunny Counts if you wish to make a donation in her memory.

Binky free, Punkin. You were an amazing little bun.

It’s cherry blossom season in Japan, and of course Jordana encountered a bunny. This sweet little lop nuzzled herself into her arms—and then promptly peed all over her cherry blossom yukata. 🤣

We took this as an auspicious sign!

It’s also not too late to claim your Japanese bunny gift pack. We have two donation tiers - $250 and $150. See below ⬇️ for 🔗

Proceeds go to pay veterinary bills for our sanctuary and foster rabbits.

Punkin is back at home now after spending the better part of yesterday at the vet. We saw substantial improvement on oxygen, and she continued to do well on room air. By the end of the day, the vet felt comfortable sending her home where she could continue to recover in familiar surroundings. Punkin is such a trooper.

Unfortunately, things took a turn for Punkin very early this morning as she started experiencing labored breathing, so her foster family took her to the ER. She is doing better now that she’s on oxygen, but her head tilt is profound and she has nystagmus. We are starting treatment for an upper respiratory infection and closely monitoring.

Punkin’s vet bills are mounting. We *really* need your help.

We are now offering a second donation tier for the Japanese Bunny Gift pack. If you have made a donation for Punky’s surgery, you can apply it to the second tier.

Punkin is continuing to improve. She is taking syringe feeding well, eating greens, and her pain seems to be fairly controlled. However, as you can see in the photo, her head is still quite tilted. It has shown improvement and most likely will continue to improve, but is still more tilted than the Dr. Adair would like.

Punkin is ready to go back home, but will need syringe feeding, some cage modification, and TLC.

We are urgently raising funds for Punky’s surgery!

Anyone who makes a contribution of $250 by 6pm on Friday, March 27 will receive a hand-picked bunny souvenir surprise pack *sent to you from Japan*! 🇯🇵 Packs may include items like bunny chopsticks 🥢, furoshiki wraps, fans 🪭, paper and textile art, amulets, hand towels, accessories, and more! (We will do our best to honor requests.)
