Today, we remember and honor the beautiful life of Theresa (Novelli) McLoughlin, a 33 year old, 2011 graduate of Smith Vocational & Agricultural High School.

Theresa was an incredible friend, a devoted wife, and a loving mother to her two beautiful children, who were the center of her world. She loved the outdoors, cherished every moment with her family and friends, and brought joy wherever she went.

As a student at Smith Vocational, Theresa had a smile that could light up any room. She carried an unforgettable spirit and a warmth that made everyone around her feel welcome. She had an aura that simply couldn’t be dimmed.

Her passing has touched the hearts of so many, both young and old. The impact she made on those who knew and loved her will never be forgotten.

To her family, friends, classmates, and especially her children, may you find comfort in the memories you shared and the love that will always remain.

Fly high, my sweet angel. You will be deeply missed, but never forgotten. 💜🕊️

It is with great sadness that we extend our heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of Ryan Jablonski, a 2016 graduate of Smith Vocational & Agricultural High School, who passed away on July 12, 2026, at the young age of 27.

Ryan was the kind of person who could make a friend wherever he went. He had a genuine heart, loved to cook, enjoyed spending time outdoors, and was cherished by so many whose lives he touched. His kindness, friendship, and infectious spirit will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

On behalf of the Smith Vocational & Agricultural Alumni Association, we offer our deepest sympathies to Ryan’s family, friends, classmates, and everyone mourning this tremendous loss.

May you find comfort in the memories you shared, strength in one another, and peace in knowing Ryan’s life left a lasting impact on so many.

Rest in peace, Ryan. You will be deeply missed. 💙🕊️

Today we honor the memory of Mr. John Bobala, a proud alumnus and longtime Auto Mechanics teacher at Smith Vocational & Agricultural High School.

Mr. Bobala dedicated his life to educating generations of students, sharing not only his knowledge of the automotive trade but also his patience, kindness, and unwavering commitment to helping others succeed. He was more than a teacher, he was a mentor, a role model, and someone who genuinely cared about every student who walked through his shop doors.

He was respected by his colleagues, admired by his students, and loved by so many whose lives he helped shape over the years. His legacy will continue to live on through the countless mechanics, tradespeople, and individuals he inspired.

On behalf of all who knew him, we extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, former students, and the entire Smith Vocational community.

Rest easy, Mr. Bobala. Thank you for your years of service, your dedication to education, and the lasting impact you made on so many lives. You will be deeply missed.

Congratulations 🎉

Our fifth and final inductee of the Hall of Fame inaugural class is Retired Navy SEAL Britt Slabinski, a 1988 graduate from the electronics program, who had a long career as a SEAL and was awarded the Medal of Honor in 2018 for his actions on March 4, 2002 during the War on Terrorism in Afghanistan. Master Chief Slabinski was leading a reconnaissance team to its assigned area at the top of a 10,000-foot snow-covered mountain when their helicopter suddenly came under enemy fire. Congratulations 🎉

Today's inductee is Michael Cahillane, a 1964 graduate of what was then called Auto Body (since renamed Collision Repair). Mike was the co-owner of Cahillane Motors and Cahillane Auto Body for many years, and stayed involved with SVAHS by serving on the program advisory committee. Today's inductee is cosmetologist Kendra Cross, class of 2000. A go-getter from Day 1, Kendra started her career at Hair By Harlow in Amherst while still a student through a cooperative work placement; just five years later, she became co-owner of the salon! Kendra continues to be a leader in the industry and serves on the SVAHS cosmetology program advisory committee and on the general advisory committee as its chairperson.
