We are so pleased to see that people are investing in the Northside!

Excerpt taken from the North Platte Bulletin: "The commission supported a request from Roberts and Sons Plumbing to rezone property at 2420 W. 13th from an R-3 Dwelling District to a B-2 Highway Commercial District.

The company is restoring a previously vacant, abandoned property that was overgrown with trees. Roberts has plans to relocate the plumbing business to the site.

Higher-intensity commercial uses surround the property and the proposed business would be compatible with the area, the planning staff said.

Several commission members praised the cleanup.

“I drove by this eyesore every day for 13 years,” Commission Chair David Fudge said. “I’m so happy that it’s being cleaned up.”

No one spoke in opposition and the commission unanimously recommended approval of the rezoning."

This could be a great thing for Northside buildings included in this study. It could open up grants and incentives. Although the study doesn't promise historic designation, it is a great jumping off point for those buildings identified.

A survey of downtown North Platte has identified 68 properties that may be eligible for individual listing on the National Register of Historic Places.

There is a new drop off site for recycling on the Northside!
The drop-off site is located in the north parking lot of the Public Service Building at 1402 N. Jeffers Street.
The new location was established to better serve residents on the north side of North Platte by providing easier access to recycling services while maintaining the same accepted materials and recycling procedures currently available at existing sites.
Each recycling bin is equipped with eight compartments designated for:
• Tin cans
• Aluminum cans
• Mixed paper
• Newspapers and magazines
• Plastic #1- #7
In addition, a large cardboard receptacle is available at the site for corrugated cardboard recycling.
The materials accepted at the new location are identical to those accepted at other drop-off recycling sites throughout the community. Residents seeking additional information about recyclable materials can visit www.keepnorthplattebeautiful.org/recycling. A QR code printed on each recycling bin provides direct access to the website, making it easy for users to review recycling guidelines while on-site.
The new drop-off site reflects an ongoing commitment to making recycling more accessible and convenient for North Platte residents while helping keep valuable materials out of local landfills.
