FIDO's Companion Rescue Inc. FIDO's Companion Inc. Weekly we rescue dogs as well from many other rural county shelter in mid and southern Ohio and KY before they are put to sleep.

is a small non-profit 501(c)3 organization operating in Lorain County made up of volunteers who perform vital functions in the process of rescuing animals. We primarily rescue dogs from the streets in our County and County Dog Pound or ill/injured dogs coming into our Vet Clinic from Cuyahoga County. We secondarily assist with taking in homeless stray dogs and funding the spay/neuter of homeless d

ogs and cats for other independent local rescuers and vet clinics who take them in off the street and work to rehome them. Lastly, we help fund the Spay/Neuter of dogs that low income owners cannot afford. FIDO's Companion rescue strives to find new adoptive families willing to make a lifetime commitment and be lifetime companions for each dog we rescue. Our focus is on the QUALITY of life we provide to one canine companion at a time. FIDO's Companion believes that the value of what we do is not in the Quantity of animals we save, but in the Quality of the new life we provide to them. We also know we cannot rescue our way out of pet overpopulation, therefore, we work in our rescue and with our community to ensure spay/neuter is achieved for animals we come into contact with or are made aware of needing altered. We also strive to educate the public including school age children about humane treatment of animals and the importance of spaying and neutering pets

🐾 Meet Gary! 🐾

If you’re looking for a dog who perfectly balances playful energy and cuddle time, Gary may be your guy! This handsome 7-year-old Beagle mix weighs just 30 pounds—much smaller than he looks in his photos—and is ready to find a family to call his own.

Gary can be a little shy when meeting new people and adjusting to a new environment, so he’ll do best with someone willing to give him a little time and patience as he settles in. Once he’s comfortable, his fun-loving personality shines through! Despite being 7 years old, Gary still has plenty of s***k. He loves going for walks, chewing on bones, exploring outside, and wrestling with his dog friends.

When meeting other dogs, Gary can come on a bit strong as he likes to thoroughly investigate and get acquainted. Once introductions are out of the way, he’s happy to play and enjoy their company. He adapts well to most other dogs and enjoys having canine friends around, but he certainly doesn’t need another dog in his home to be happy. Gary would be just as content soaking up all the love and attention as your one and only pup.

Gary is extremely food motivated, making him eager to learn and easy to win over with a tasty treat. He also loves snuggling up with his people and is always happy to relax on the couch after a day of adventures. True to his Beagle roots, Gary isn’t shy about sharing his opinions and enjoys keeping an eye on the neighborhood from the window.

One thing Gary would rather skip? Car rides. They’re just not his favorite activity. He also isn’t a fan of being crated, but he does very well when left alone with a comfy bed and a peanut butter-filled Kong to keep him occupied.

Gary has also met a cat and wasn’t particularly interested, making him a potential fit for a home with feline friends.

Gary is a sweet, affectionate boy looking for a family that will give him the time he needs to settle in and the love he deserves. In return, he’ll reward you with plenty of cuddles, laughs, and loyal companionship.

Meet Midnight!

Midnight is a 1-year-old Pomeranian/Chihuahua mix with a sweet personality and a heart full of love. Although she has only been in foster care for a short time, she has already made a wonderful impression on everyone she meets.

This little girl is incredibly friendly and affectionate. She has done great with the other dogs in her foster home and has a calm, easygoing demeanor that makes her a joy to be around. Midnight seems to be both crate trained and house trained so far, and she settles nicely in her crate.

One of Midnight’s favorite things is being close to her people. She especially loves curling up right next to her foster family’s daughter and is happiest when she can relax by your side.

As we continue to learn more about Midnight, one thing is already clear—she is a loving companion looking for a family to call her own. If you’re searching for a sweet, gentle little dog to share your couch and your heart, Midnight may be the perfect match for you!

This senior guy is relaxed and calm indoors and is not really interested all that much in toys, but take him outside and his personality comes alive!

Charlie LOVES his walks! He will walk quickly in short bursts, then he'll tire out.

Meet Sage!

If you’re looking for a calm, easygoing companion to share life’s quieter moments with, look no further than Sage. This beautiful 10-year-old Lab mix weighs in at 82 pounds of pure sweetness and has all the wonderful qualities that make senior dogs so special.

Sage is a gentle, quiet soul who is happy to simply be by your side. In fact, we have yet to hear her bark! She has a calm and relaxed demeanor that makes her a joy to have around. Despite her size, Sage is incredibly easy to walk and has lovely leash manners, making strolls around the neighborhood a peaceful experience.

Sage gets along well with other dogs, but she has officially retired from the puppy party scene. While she enjoys canine companionship, she would prefer dog friends who are calm and respectful rather than energetic youngsters looking to wrestle and play all day.

This sweet senior is house-trained, does well in her crate, and settles nicely into a routine. She would likely do well in a home with children who understand that Sage is a mature lady and can respect her space rather than climb, jump, or roughhouse with her.

Although Sage has a little arthritis, she still enjoys getting out for short walks and exploring the world at her own pace. She’s not looking for a hiking partner or marathon buddy—just someone who appreciates the simple joys of a leisurely stroll and a cozy place to relax afterward.

Meet Spirit!

Spirit is a 3-month-old Pit Bull mix with a personality as big as her puppy paws! This sweet girl is everything you love about puppies—happy, affectionate, curious, and always ready for fun.

Like any young puppy, Spirit has plenty of energy and loves to play. She enjoys zooming around, showing off adorable play bows, and trying to convince everyone she meets to join in on the fun. Spirit is a social butterfly who loves other dogs and would happily play all day if given the chance. She would enjoy a canine playmate, but she would also do well as an only dog in a home that can provide plenty of attention, exercise, and opportunities to make dog friends.

Despite her playful side, Spirit is also learning her manners. She can settle down nicely and will even sit patiently for her food bowl. She is doing wonderfully with crate training and has not had any accidents in her foster home when kept on a consistent schedule.

Spirit absolutely adores people, especially children. She has fallen head over paws for her foster family’s son and would make a wonderful addition to an active family. Because she is still a young, enthusiastic puppy who likes to jump when excited, she would likely do best with older children who won’t be easily knocked over by her puppy exuberance.

When it comes to cats, Spirit is curious and playful. She has chased a cat before, but it was out of excitement and curiosity rather than prey drive. With proper introductions and dog-savvy cats, she may do well in a home with feline friends.

Spirit is a sweet, loving puppy who is ready to find a family of her own. If you’re looking for a loyal companion who will keep you smiling, make you laugh with her silly puppy antics, and shower you with affection, Spirit may be the perfect match for you!
