Math Masters Compete in Mankato 🧠➗
🎉South Central Service Cooperative, in conjunction with Math Masters of Minnesota, hosted the 2026 Regional Math Masters Competition on April 17 at the SCSC Conference Center and April 24 at Bethany Lutheran College. More than 340 fourth and fifth-grade students, representing 67 teams from 21 area schools, participated in this exciting event.
🔹 Students competed both individually and as teams, tackling eight sets of challenging mathematical problems that showcased their critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Participating schools included Belle Plaine, Eagle Lake Elementary – Mankato, GHEC, Hoover Elementary – Mankato, Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton, Jordan, Kennedy Elementary – Mankato, Lake Crystal Wellcome Memorial, Le Sueur, Loyola, Mankato Area Homeschools, Monroe Elementary – Mankato, New Ulm Area Catholic Schools, Roosevelt Elementary – Mankato, Rosa Parks – Mankato, Round Lake-Brewster, Sibley East, St. Clair, Waseca, Washington Elementary – Mankato, and Waterville-Elysian-Morristown.
📐 Math Masters of Minnesota began in 1989 as a fifth-grade competition with 44 schools and has continued to grow over the years. Today, the program includes fourth, fifth, and sixth-grade students, promoting excellence in math achievement across the state. 📚The program is designed to encourage strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills while recognizing students for their academic effort and success. Events like these are made possible through generous statewide sponsors and local support from McDonald’s.
