Another great Community in School mini-grant recipient 🎉 Mr. Leedahl’s love for Legos was very strong ❤️

We are excited to share one of our Building Community in School mini-grant projects! This was a collaborative project between teachers and students at Davisville Middle School (where Lane coached) and Quidnessett Elementary School (where Lane taught). We are so proud and honored by this work!

Quid art teacher Mrs. Danielle Singh worked with her students to paint a picture in Mr. Leedahl's memory. "Lane's Great Wave" was created as a way to pay tribute to Lane and one of his loves - the Japanese woodblock print "The Great Wave of Kanagawa."

Over a few months, Mr. Mike Berndt and his 8th grade students at Davisville Middle School worked on creating a frame to mount the canvas painting so that it could be displayed at Quidnessett school.

This project allowed kids at both schools to remember him and to work together. We will post the final pics of the painting hanging on the wall at Quidnessett school soon.

Our goal is to empower teams to build strong relationships, strengthen teamwork, and support the holistic development of every player — values that Lane lived every day. Lane was a larger-than-life coach and teacher who believed sports were about more than winning. He focused on connection, community, determination, and showing up for each other. His passion for team-building and player development continues to inspire this mission.

To honor Lane’s legacy, we’re offering 𝑻𝒆𝒂𝒎 𝑩𝒖𝒊𝒍𝒅𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑨𝒘𝒂𝒓𝒅𝒔 of up to $𝟓𝟎𝟎 for youth teams that prioritize positive culture, player growth, team spirit, and fun. Any youth team—𝐬𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥, 𝐫𝐞𝐜, 𝐜𝐥𝐮𝐛, 𝐨𝐫 𝐀𝐀𝐔—is welcome to apply.

Applications should share how your team
builds a positive environment and how the award would help you grow together. Funds can support team-building activities, players in need, community involvement, skill development, equipment, or tournament expenses.

This award is a meaningful way to carry forward Lane’s belief in strong teams, strong character, and finding blessings in every moment.

𝐂𝐨𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 were at the heart of everything Lane did, whether on the court, in the classroom, or in the community. He believed in building 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐟𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞, 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗺𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸, and 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐞𝐫 through sports, always reminding us that “𝐁𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐢𝐬 𝐥𝐢𝐟𝐞.”🏀

One of our favorite pictures of Lane captures his spirit perfectly, always finding a way to shoot a ball even in one of the busiest cities in the world, New York City. 🌆 That love for the game and his drive to inspire others are what continue to guide us today.

At the heart of everything we do is a simple but powerful belief that connection, empathy, and belonging can transform lives. The 𝐋𝐚𝐧𝐞 𝐋𝐞𝐞𝐝𝐚𝐡𝐥 𝐁𝐥𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐅𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 is proud to support teachers and schools through mini-grants of up to $500, helping them create spaces where students look out for one another, lift others, and grow together as a community.

From collaborative art projects to team-building games, every effort reminds us that the greatest lessons emerge when we learn to care for one another.
