YOUR FLOOR PLAN IS A SAFETY DOCUMENT

Four principles that separate a shop that works from a shop that gets lucky.

SEPARATE THE TRAFFIC
Powered industrial trucks and people should not share a lane. Mark pedestrian routes where people actually walk, not where you wish they walked. Convenience beats compliance every time, so make the compliant route the convenient one.

ZONE THE DUST
Fabrication is wet and dirty. Break areas, offices, and finished goods storage should not be. Establish a hard boundary between production and clean zones, with a place to wash and change before crossing it. Silica does not respect an invisible line. It does respect a physical one.

RESPECT THE SLAB
A slab standing at the wrong angle is a fatality waiting on gravity. A-frames and racks need a known capacity, a stable base, secured material, and a loading sequence people follow. Never store a slab leaning against a wall.

KEEP THE PATH OPEN
Exit routes stay unobstructed. Electrical panels keep clear working space. Eyewash stations and extinguishers stay reachable without moving inventory. Storage expands to fill every available space — including the spaces that were not available.

Design the shop so the wrong move is the hard one.

This week, we're shining the spotlight on Kanani Camacho, Education & Training Administrator! 💙🧡

For Kanani, it's all about the people, the connections and the opportunity to grow together. From building meaningful relationships to supporting ISFA's continued evolution, she brings heart, dedication and a passion for making a difference to everything she does.

Outside of work, you'll find Kanani tackling her next home design or gardening project, embracing new challenges and finding inspiration in her son, Austin. 🌿

💬 Her advice to live by? "Work hard, stay humble, and always treat people well."
