Seven years ago today, we lost my Great Aunt Faye. A remarkable woman whose life was defined by faith, service, conviction, and generosity. She was a leader in Seattle women’s business, a devoted Catholic, and an advocate for the causes and political beliefs she held dear.
With the support and dedication of my mother, Leeanna Shaw , Faye established our family foundation, The Garneau Nicon Family Foundation. After months of hard work and commitment, the foundation made its first distribution in 2011 beginning a legacy of giving that continues to this day.
Faye’s faith was central to who she was. When her husband, Edward Garneau, passed away in 2010, she honored his memory by remodeling Christ the King School—a lasting tribute rooted in love, faith, and service to others.
The foundation’s board members have remained steadfast in the beliefs of our original founders, continuing to give each year in their memory and carrying forward the values they held so deeply.
I am deeply grateful for the knowledge, guidance, and opportunity Faye gave me personally. With an open heart, I strive to honor her legacy and remain true to the beliefs she and our family’s founders cherished, through the gifts we give each year.
We are excited to give once again, in their honor this coming October.
