Remembering and honoring the birthday of the butterfly who graced my life as my kindergarten student for a short time. She was a beautiful, happy, soul. My heart was forever changed when she passed in a tragic house fire. I will never forget and she is the reason I work to educate and prevent.
Feliz cumpleaños en el cielo à Yaritza!!

Important safety tips about lithium batteries!! 🦋🦋

🔥 LITHIUM-ION BATTERY FIRE SAFETY 🔥

This morning Norristown Firefighters and mutual aid were dispatched to a basement fire in the 400 Blk of walnut St. Firefighters found storage burning, including a lithium ion battery operated scooter. This fire is another important reminder about the dangers of improperly stored or charged lithium-ion batteries.
Lithium-ion batteries are found in many everyday household items—from power tools and e-bikes to scooters, electronics, and other rechargeable devices. When damaged, improperly stored, or left charging unattended, these batteries can overheat and cause a serious fire.
⚠️ A few important reminders:
• Never charge batteries unattended or while you’re sleeping.
• Use the charger designed for the device.
• Don’t charge damaged or swollen batteries.
• Keep batteries away from heat and flammable materials.
• Follow the manufacturer’s storage and charging instructions.
• Dispose of damaged or unwanted batteries properly—never place them in household trash or recycling.
One battery fire can cause significant damage in a matter of minutes. Take the time to charge and store your batteries safely.
