This Memorial Day, we pause to honor and remember the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. Their sacrifice is a lasting reminder of the courage, strength, and dedication that protect the freedoms we hold dear.

We also extend our gratitude to the military families who carry the legacy of their loved ones each day.

Our Executive Director, Rasheena Harris, joined fellow advocates from the Family Focused Treatment Association (FFTA), Virginia Chapter, Public Policy Institute, to champion vital legislation supporting foster care and child welfare.

Improving the lives of youth in foster care means providing aging out support, workforce development, housing, relationship building, and outcomes aimed at reducing homelessness and incarceration among foster youth as well as increased funding for prevention efforts, including trades, higher education, home ownership, and rental assistance.

JBRI Foster Care is proud to advocate for the most vulnerable in our community.

May is National Foster Care Awareness Month!

There are so many children, especially teens, who just need someone in their corner. Someone to show up, listen, and remind them they matter.

Foster care isn’t about being perfect. It’s about being present.

This month, we’re thinking about the children still waiting, and we’re incredibly grateful for the foster families and supporters who continue to step up in big and small ways.

In April, we proudly celebrate the Month of the Military Child.

Military children show us what true resilience looks like. Through moves, new schools, long deployments, and time apart from loved ones, they continue to adapt, grow, and thrive with strength and courage beyond their years. They serve alongside their families in ways that often go unseen.
