We will be forever grateful for the generosity of those who think of others who may need a helping hand.

Earlier this week, the Sheriff Joe Baron Foundation received a check from the trust of Vietnam Veteran Roger Fiftal for $50,000. The money is to be utilized for Veterans programs. We are so excited to utilize the money to expand the veteran's programs we offer both in the Norfolk City Jail and in the community.

Colonel O'Toole and Lieutenant Serrano recently stopped by Maury High School to deliver a check from the Sheriff Joe Baron Foundation to Maury High School Football Coach Dyrri McCain. The money will be used to buy jerseys and equipment for the Maury High School football program.

This donation to Maury Football from the Sheriff Joe Baron Foundation is another example of how donations to the Sheriff Joe Baron Foundation are being put back into our community.

Thank you to the Cosmopolitan Club of Norfolk for their recent donation of $1500 to the Sheriff Joe Baron Foundation. This money will be put towards our 2026 Senior Fest. We appreciate the continued support of our community.

The Sheriff Joe Baron Foundation and the Norfolk Sheriff’s Office were recently recognized as an UPLIFT Award Winner during the 2025 Norfolk Neighborhood Expo.

In 2017, the Sheriff Joe Baron Foundation was founded by Sheriff Joe Baron as a means for the Norfolk Sheriff’s Office to give back to the community we serve and provide year-round programs for citizens in Norfolk. With support through donations, funds raised through United Way campaigns, and grants, the Sheriff Joe Baron Foundation allows the Norfolk Sheriff’s Office to provide necessary items and programs to those who need it most in our community. The Foundation serves as main source of revenue for a large portion of the Norfolk Sheriff’s Office Community Outreach.

Here are some of the annual programs the Sheriff Joe Baron Foundation helps make possible:
• Three youth sports camps each year
• Two, one-week youth summer camps each year
• Annual Senior Fest event for senior citizens living in Norfolk
• Camp HOPE Norfolk
• School supply drives
• Winter coat drives
• Holiday (Christmas and Thanksgiving) turkey baskets
• Scholarships

The Norfolk Sheriff’s Office is a values-driven organization committed to public safety, public service, and public trust. The Sheriff Joe Baron Foundation gives the Norfolk Sheriff’s Office the opportunity to fulfill our mission to public service and exemplify our purpose of making a positive difference in the lives of others as far as we can reach.

Sheriff Baron was on-hand at the Neighborhood Expo to accept the UPLIFT Award on behalf of the Sheriff Joe Baron Foundation and the Norfolk Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff Joe Baron and Undersheriff Col. Mike O'Toole stopped by the Norview Cardinals Spirit Day recently and presented them with a donation on behalf of the Sheriff Joe Baron Foundation. The Foundation strives to give back to our community and make a difference in the lives of youth throughout Norfolk. We are thankful to the donors who make moments like this possible.
