The Reggio Emilia theory and practice of education posits one’s learning environment as the “Third Teacher,” expanding conventional models of learning. This panel discussion explores how material-based arts environments function as “third teacher” across a variety of learning programs. Our panel of organizers, activists, and teaching artists include three UW-Madison Glass Lab alumni. These individuals bring their training in glass to their current work in youth arts education in a wide variety of educational environments across the nation, meeting young creatives where they’re at in building lives of meaning for themselves.
