Over the past two months, I’ve received four notifications that fellow veterans have become part of the 22. Some were personal friends. Some were fellow Legionnaires. Some were connected through mutual friends. All were brothers and sisters in arms.
This has to stop.
If you’re struggling, please know that asking for help is not a sign of weakness—it’s a sign of strength. There are people who care about you and want to help.
To my fellow veterans: reach out to your brothers and sisters. Make the call. Send the text. Check in on them. Sometimes a simple conversation can make all the difference.
If you or a veteran you know is in crisis, call the Veterans Crisis Line by dialing 988 and pressing 1, text 838255, or chat online through the VA.
No one fights alone.
