It's that time of year where we make a big push towards membership for the Niwot Community Association (NCA), a non-profit organization.

Why become a member? Our board member enlightens us on the benefits of becoming a member having access to information in the factual communication between Niwot and Boulder County as well as providing you the ability to get your voice heard.

Additionally, membership dues go towards funding several of our events around town such as parades, clean-up day, etc. which require funds to operate.

We also provide updates on your area and monitor trails and open spaces.

From Boulder County Parks & Open Space:

Starting yesterday (Mon. 9/29/25) sections of the Longmont-to-Boulder (LoBo) trail between Monarch Rd & Mineral Rd will be closed for resurfacing. After completion, the real will be closed along Mineral Rd and it is asked that the detour along N 79th St is used.

It is one is the many jobs of the NCA as a liaison between Boulder County Gov & the unincorporated town of Niwot to provide an extra line of communication for updates and to monitor trails & open space that affect our areas.

While not sponsored by the NCA, we do take significant interest in our local schools and support this upcoming event at Sunset Middle School as they celebrate 50 years with an open house THIS FRIDAY at 4pm. Check it out!

This week, a notice was sent from Boulder County Public Health (BCPH) that a sample box revealed a West Nile mosquito hatch in Niwot Colorado.

We reached out to BCPH and they confirmed that the mosquitos that tested positive for West Nile virus were trapped within a mile of Niwot High School.

The graphics posted is the reminder material that BCPH distributed.

In keeping with the NCA’s mission of educating the public and serving as a two-way conduit of information between the community and Boulder County, the results of this survey will be shared with Boulder County Commissioners as a gauge of sentiment around the current minimum wage ordinance and its potential effects.

Our incredible NCA Board member, friend, & president of the Niwot Historical Society, Kathy Koehler, officially has copies of her book celebrating the sesquicentennial celebration (150 years) of Niwot.

Copies will be available at the NCA's 4th Annual Slepicka Tractor Show.
