These two sweet girls came in tonight, very high fever, swollen leg, skinny, not standing on their own and very dehydrated. I’ve given sub q fluids and antibiotics for now and hopefully to the vet in the morning. They are part of a group of community cats living in a trailer park in Belle Fourche, I’m hoping this isn’t distemper. For now they are segregated from the others until we get can get some testing done. Thank goodness for everyone who donated the high calorie gels, it comes in handy in situations like this. They did eat and drink some so that’s a good sign.

2 week old kitten was found in the road after the storm. Finder said they put her back her out but no luck for mom returning. We tried it with several lasting moms and the cupboard mama took right to it. The little one is doing great !

Meet Ratchet 🐾

A young kitten who came into the Humane Society already fighting for his life, he developed a severe, aggressive eye infection that quickly compromised both of his eyes. It became so bad that the vet believed the only option left was removal.

An appointment was scheduled.

In the meantime, he needed around-the-clock care—eye drops every two hours, day and night, and a medicated ointment before bed and again first thing in the morning. That routine continued tirelessly for weeks.

Slowly, the swelling began to go down.

When he was brought back in for what was supposed to be his eye removal surgery, the vet paused. The infection had improved enough to reassess the damage. Instead of removing his eyes, they were able to save them.

Ratchet does have some lasting trauma to his eyes, meaning his vision isn’t perfect—but he can see, he can navigate, and he is thriving.

And instead of losing his eyes that day… he was neutered and given a second chance at life.

Today, Ratchet is healthy, playful, and ready for his forever home. ❤️

Sometimes, the smallest fighters just need someone willing to show up for them—hour after hour, drop after drop.

He was just 10 weeks old when his life was about to end.

Meet Buzz 🐾

Sick with pneumonia and Bordetella, his tiny body was failing. His sister had already passed, and the decision had been made by the humane society to schedule him for euthanasia. When I arrived with him, the catheter was placed. Everything was ready.

Then the vet paused and asked, “Would you give him a chance?”

I said yes.

What followed was a fight for his life—45 days of treatment, and he beat pneumonia and Bordetella. Then came another devastating diagnosis: FIP.

Again, we fought. Another 85 days of medication, care, and hope.

And today… Buzz is alive. Healthy. Thriving. ❤️
(And as you can see—he’s pretty proud of himself.)

This little fighter is now ready for his forever home.

Sometimes, all it takes… is one more chance.

Adopted!!

Meet Tilly, she is the sweetest little 10 yr old chihuahua. Her owner passed away and she is now looking for her forever home. Shes quiet, loves to snuggle under her blanket and prefers people food. She loves car rides. Her teeth are not in good shape, we’ve cleaned the tarter and some are loose, but they will need pulled. She has no issues with other dogs and cats. My opinion is she has lost some of her hearing. She needs a relaxing home to relax and be cuddled.

WOW! We don’t know how to say thank you enough for everyone who made a payment towards our vet bill this month. This will surely make a difference in our budget and allow us to focus on other needs. Sincerely, thank you.

These 3 Siamese were transferred to The Humane Society of the Black Hills. Please reach out to them for adoption.

Hammock fun!! And attachable food and water cups give them more floor space and less mess in the cups! Thank you for the wishlist item! 3 Siamese are fixed, vaccinated and ready for forever homes! They seem to have an issue with other kitties going into the crate so it’s a possibility they might be better in a larger home or an only cat, but I haven’t let them roam either.
