This model of Independence Hall is one of 2,500 commissioned by the Pennsylvania Historical Commission (PHC) in 1937 to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. The Works Progress Administration (WPA) provided artists and sculptors for the models. PHC provided technical expertise and delivered the models to schools and historical societies throughout the state.
