IAIE lost a great friend with the passing of Peter Yarrow. He attended several of our world conferences and performed with the kids. “Don’t laugh at me” was a favorite. Here he is with Joan Fretz, Executive Director, and Sally Butzin, Board Chair, at the 2015 World Conference in New York. Rest in peace dear friend.

Happy 86th Birthday to Peter Yarrow, folk singer-songwriter (Peter, Paul & Mary - "Puff (The Magic Dragon)"), who was born in New York City on this day in 1938.

William Purkey Memorial Contributions
Some people have reported difficulty making donations to the IAIE website or mailing checks. The family has designated another charity that was dear to William called Sharing Smiles. This group treats children with cleft palats in countries around the world. Here is the link if you care to donate:

A wonderful celebration of the life of William Purkey with Imogene and family at Wakulla Springs, Fl on May 11. Wakulla Springs was one of William’s favorite spots including a boat ride along the Wakulla River to see alligators and other Florida wildlife. John Novak came from Canada and my husband and I were honored to be included.

Harry and Rosemary were great supporters of Invitational Education. May he rest in peace.

My heart aches to share with you that my dear, sweet Prince of a husband, Harry K. Wong, passed away quietly last week. He was the love of my life, my professional partner, and the most dedicated man there ever was. He would not want us to be sad but to carry on his work so that children have the most effective teachers to guide them through life. While we will pause briefly to remember a true education icon, Harry left much work for us to do. His work will continue to live on in generations of teachers. Greetings from Tallahassee. Enjoyed a beautiful afternoon at Dr. Purkey’s home. He and Imogene are doing well and in good spirits after a rough patch last month. He continues to amaze me with his wit and wisdom.
