September is Healthy Aging Month, and we want to recognize Mainstay Resident Donnie — someone dedicated to maintaining his own health and promoting the health and wellbeing of others!

When he isn’t at the gym kickboxing, running, or weight training, Donnie can often be found mountain biking or surfing. He’s also an introspective author and a talented drummer.

Donnie takes great pride in being of service. In the winter months, he helps fellow Residents clear and move their cars. “I enjoy it. I like the challenge…. I think the most I’ve done at once is 23 cars.” He credits his good health for his ability to do this and encourages his neighbors to keep active, too. “I’ve got people in [my] building going for walks. It’s important to be a positive influence on people.”

He recently expressed to us his gratitude in having found a steady home in Mainstay. “Once you get into a stable place, you can build on that.... Living here has given me the freedom to do the things I really want to do.”

Helping others is always at the top of his “to do” list. His drive to lend a helping hand is much appreciated — especially by the plow crew — and makes it easy for fellow Senior Living Residents to safely attend appointments, run errands, and access the wider community even during those harsh New England winter months!

Juli is a general assignment reporter for WBZ-TV, and a Massachusetts native who has spent more than 15 years telling stories in New England and across the country.

A proud Norwood native and Emerson College graduate, Juli began her television career as a medical reporter in North Dakota. It was an exciting time to cover health news across the northern plains, as the oil boom transformed the economy and much of the social landscape. Her next job brought her closer to home, working as an anchor and reporter at WWLP-TV in Springfield, before returning to Boston. Juli reported for WCVB-TV, and has spent nearly the last decade as a valued member of the WBZ team.

Juli is especially passionate about people-centered storytelling; finding the humanity behind the headlines and giving attention and respect to those whose stories deserve to be heard. Her work has taken her from historic breaking news events to some of the most meaningful and uplifting stories across Massachusetts.

Outside of the newsroom, Juli is a wife and mom of three. She considers it a real privilege to report and raise her own family where she grew up. For Juli, journalism is ultimately about connecting with people, and telling stories with accuracy, empathy and heart.
