Coast Hills Running Club

Coast Hills Running Club The club is fairly active for a small town. We have several races per year, weekly runs, and training sessions. The RRCA is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.

See our website Coasthillsrunningclub.org for more The Coast Hills Running Club serves communities along the Oregon Coast, mainly those near Newport and Lincoln City. In addition to providing group run opportunities, the Coast Hills Running Club hosts races including the Coast Festival Run in February (in conjunction with the Seafood and Wine Festival), the Loyalty Days Run in May, and the Free Fl

ight Run in October; and supports events like the Newport Marathon. We also have a summer training series starting in mid-June; club picnic runs; monthly First Saturday runs, and a winter trail run series. Groups also form around training for a specific event, such as the Newport Marathon and the Lincoln City Half Marathon in March. The purpose of the club is to help connect runners in the Lincoln County/central coast area for running activities. CHRC can provide a runner new to the area contacts for running groups and running routes around Newport. Membership is open to all age groups and all paces, and walkers are welcome! Coast Hills Running Club is a member of the Road Runners Club of America which is the national association of running clubs, running events, and runners dedicated to promoting running as a competitive sport and as healthful exercise.

The Newport Booster Club needs your help. Last year at this time the Newport Booster Club was hosting a Banquet and Auction of which raised over $100,000 to help purchase a lot of new equipment and training aids to benefit our athletes, provide middle school sports, and athletic waiver fees. This year we’re doing it virtually and our goal is to raise $10,000 through raffle ticket sales in a fairly short amount of time. You may or may not know, but the Booster Club also raised $58,000 between April and July and bought $50 JC Market gift cards for Newport Principals to distribute to families in need, much of them undocumented families who do not qualify for assistance but were laid off or lost their jobs.

The banquet premier is October 23 @ 6 pm on our new YouTube channel. We'll publish the link as we get closer to the event. We’ll be sharing it on our Social media accounts – Facebook and *new* Instagram – as well as by email. As in year’s past, the annual banquet will be celebrating the Booster’s accomplishments for the year as well as recognize individuals in the community for their outstanding contributions to the Newport Booster Club. Our emcees for the event are two Cubby alumni – Mark Moore & Blair Belloni!!!

We need your help by selling or buying raffle tickets. You can check out a batch of tickets to sell at Roby’s Furniture and Appliance, 5111 N. Coast Hwy, Newport -OR- the tickets are also available there if someone wants to purchase directly. The attached flyer has been printed and is available at Roby’s if you want to hang or show ticket buyers.

The tickets are 3/$25. On each ticket, raffle ticket holders can choose from five raffle items 1) Electrolux Washer & Dryer from Roby’s, 2) Weatherby Max-5 Shotgun donated by Oregon Coast Bank, 3) TruFlask 120L Cooler w/Beer & Spirits + $300 Newport Brewing gift card from Roby’s & Newport Brewing, 4) Electric Trimmer & Blower along with a $500 Barrelhead Building Supply gift certificate given by John & Martha Voorhies, Jon & Darla Zagel, and Barrelhead, or 5) Traeger Grill donated by Thompson’s Sanitary Service. Tickets need to be turned into Roby’s by October 19, 2020.

We’re also encouraging virtual attendees to get takeout from this list of local restaurants who supplied their time, talents, and products to provide all of the cuisines at the 2019 in-person banquet: Arr Place, Clearwater, Fish Tails Café, Lighthouse Deli @ South Beach Market, Ocean Bleu @ Gino’s, Local Ocean, Mo’s, Newport Brewing, Pacific Kitchen, Panini, and Sorella. Please help us support these restaurants that gave so much for our Banquet last year!
