The Film Club of CNU is a student organization focused on initiating a conversation for important cinema from the silent, classical and contemporary periods, as well as educating film enthusiasts on foreign and domestic traditions and abstract and realistic filmmaking styles. Upon the club’s founding in 2012, a partnership with the Presidential Leadership Program was quickly formed, resulting in a
new series, entitled, Leadership In Film. This series that explores themes of leadership, psychology and the humanities as portrayed in popular films, facilitated by an expert faculty panel. Beginning in 2013, Film Club has partnered with the On Screen/In Person Film Series Tour. This program, organized by the Mid-Atlantic Arts Foundation, is designed to bring some of the best new independent American films and their respective filmmakers to communities across the mid-Atlantic region. The filmmakers will be present at screenings and work with the Ferguson Center for the Arts to engage local community members to build greater appreciation for their works and the art of film. With On Screen/In Person, Film Club has the unique opportunity to offer hands-on workshops with the directors to students interested in the film production and the performing arts.
