Over the last 18 months, She’s My Sister has had the privilege of walking closely with local survivors of trafficking and exploitation, partnering with law enforcement, operating a safe house, and advocating for systemic change across our state.
And through this work, one thing has become increasingly clear:
Exploitation rarely begins at the point of trafficking itself.
More often, it grows quietly through isolation, fractured identity, vulnerability, online grooming, abuse, addiction, and systems that leave people unseen and unprotected long before exploitation fully takes root.
As we’ve prayed about what meaningful prevention and restoration could look like at a community level, we’ve become deeply encouraged by the many ways churches are already strengthening families, creating belonging, serving vulnerable people, and faithfully caring for those entrusted to them.
And we’re incredibly excited about the possibility of churches coming together in even greater unity — bringing their unique strengths, gifts, and callings together to help cultivate communities that are protected and free to flourish.
The vision behind the 4:14 Alliance comes from Nehemiah 4:14:
“Do not be afraid of them. Remember the Lord, who is great and awesome, and fight for your brothers, your sons, your daughters, your wives, and your homes.”
In Nehemiah, families rebuilt and protected the wall side by side, each taking responsibility for the portion in front of them. We believe there is a powerful opportunity for churches, families, organizations, and leaders to come together in that same spirit — strengthening and protecting the people and places entrusted to them.
We also believe something powerful happens when churches are willing to step into difficult and often uncomfortable conversations with wisdom, compassion, and courage. Vulnerable people feel seen. Families feel supported. Silence begins to break. And people become more equipped to recognize, prevent, and respond to exploitation before it takes deeper root.
Over the next several weeks, we’ll be gathering with a small group of church leaders, survivors, advocates, and law enforcement to begin conversations around what collaborative restoration and prevention could look like through the vision of the 4:14 Alliance.
We are prayerfully seeking approximately 12 foundational churches to help shape these early conversations and help build something that could eventually equip churches far beyond our own communities.
If you believe your church would value being part of these conversations, we would love for you to send us a message or tag your church below so we can connect.
