The Ecumenical Food pantry was founded in 1989 by Ruth Ives and Gail Berry.

Today it is the cooperative effort of 8 area churches and completely volunteer run, with the goal of addressing food insecurity locally.

Roses are red, violets are blue,
Celebrating the farm that is MorningDew!
They work all day, and into the night,
Sharing produce with us, our need at its height.
Greens and reds (beets!) and potatoes too,
Thank you SO much to glorious

We could not help food insecure families without our community! https://newcastlefoodpantry.org/donate/

Hammond Lumber delivers in so many ways to our community! Thank you for your employee-motivated collection and drop-off of food and necessities. This helps SO much. Grateful to Gunnar, Sam, and all at Hammond Lumber Company Damariscotta — good souls.

Merrily restocking cereal options! Sometimes they’re donated by an individual, sometimes the Lions Club drops some off, many times we buy items. Cereals (we provide milk!) are always popular and welcome, especially after a month with FIVE TUESDAYS in it, and our supply is depleted.

Gratitude.

This is our awesome volunteer Judy, who puts together fantastic thrifted ensembles, and manages door operations at the food pantry. Judy can talk to anyone, an ambassadorial necessity right now, since by the end of July we have seen as many visitors in need as we saw the entirety of some recent years. If you are in a position to donate, we could really use your support. https://newcastlefoodpantry.org/donate/

Once again, and once a month, our industrious volunteer Diane assembles donated goods, coordinates hardy volunteers, and with them creates hundreds of healthy takeaway meals (with recipes!) for the food pantry at the wonderful space. Joyfully exhausting.

Thank you to the following who donated other resources to make it happen: & (Tim Cheney!), and to the indefatigable Mary Kate Reny of the Local Batch Kitchen. You make us a community!

Our youngest volunteers hold differing views on the early start. ☀️

Thank you to our farmers, who rise early and get their produce to us to feed this community.

Gorgeous smiles on volunteers offering absolutely delightful, fresh, local greens. If you would like to also donate resources: https://newcastlefoodpantry.org/donate/

Our supplies may dwindle, but not our commitment. Thank you to our hardworking growers!

Unloading welcome and produce to feed the 102 families who came through the food pantry in two hours Tuesday morning. Everyday helpers, everyday neighbors, our beautiful community.

A makeover we can get behind: an empty basket filled with recent generosity! kindly keeps a basket for food pantry donations, just after checkout. Please place non-expired food staples in and we will collect them each Tuesday morning and put it ALL to good use. Thank you, friends!

May plants to celebrate moms, loved ones, one’s self, the renewal of spring. They put a little smile on so many faces! We all need hope, thank you so much for growing these donations 💜♥️🪴!!
