Kyra’s law has passed! Years of advocacy have finally led to this day! Victims experience every day the failure of family courts to recognize the seriousness of domestic violence and the impact of the behaviors by the abusive parent on their children! It has always felt unfathomable that protecting children and doing everything within our power to keep children safe and alive would take this long to pass.
But today is the day! Thank you to the bill sponsors Assemblyman Andrew Hevasi and SenatorJames Skoufis, advocates, survivors and all of the legislatures that saw this across the line.
To Jacqueline, we honor your incredible courage, strength, and resiliency. The fight no mother should have to wager. We remember Kyra today and always.
We urge Governor Kathy Hochul to sign this bill
